Not obscure at all, it's probably their most famous song, if you go by YouTube plays There is a Light That Never goes out has 16.72 million views, the next highest song (How Soon is Now) only has 8.96 million.
No one has ever said, "and here's the new single by Rolling Stones," or "I love that song by Ramones." It's always The Rolling Stones (or The Stones), The Ramones, etc.
Well I got 18, but I'm very disappointed that I missed The Smiths. "American Woman" is a very cool song but I never knew who sang it. Very ironic when you don't get an answer in a quiz which is 'Guess Who'.
I know the quiz isnt inclusive. But the first thing that popped into my head for bands starting with "the" is the monkeys. (somehow the THE seem more significant than in other names)
Also, no beach boys? (and thought of beastie boys but apparently that is with the THE. And the Everly brothers, though I think that might be a bit too obscure. Then again there are many on here I have never head of)
ow and the iconic long train running by the dooby brothers, again one people might not guess, but all will recognise.
'England's Newest Hit Makers'
'The Rolling Stones'
Rollling Stones
Ramones
Sex Pistols
The Wikipedia pages the Quizmaster references has their ‘proper’ names in the title of the pages, which are without the ‘The’.
Not a single one has "The." That is definitive.
When I refer to the family that lives next door as "the Joneses," that doesn't mean that their last name is "The Joneses."
