Hotbox should be another answer for a pickle or rundown. I grew up playing baseball in the Pacific Northwest of the US, but I don't think it's a regional term. I've definitely heard hotbox on national broadcasts. Also, wikipedia lists hotbox.
I admit to cheating on this one - my husband was helping me, and hotbox was the only answer he could think of. We live in the Upper South so it's not a regional term. He played baseball, coached baseball, watches baseball, and had a nephew who played in the Majors, but says he never heard of the term pickle for rundown. Then again, he dozes a lot during games. :)
Sorry to see that relatively few people aced this quiz. Baseball is said to be losing its market share. More American kids are playing basketball than baseball nowadays. Oh, well, spring will soon be here.
Perhaps this is absurdly wrong as I'm no baseball guru, but could power hitter work as an alternate answer for cleanup? Aren't power hitters usually 4th?
The fourth batter can be a power hitter, and usually is, but he doesn't have to be. The nickname for that spot in the line-up, for as far back as I can tell, has always been the "clean-up" spot.
Also, some teams use power hitters 3rd or 5th in the batting order. I've seen them hit leadoff, and if their batting average is particularly low, 6th or lower.
Never heard of golden sombrero. My dad always called a strikeout a goose egg, so Golden Goose Egg had a nice poetic ring to it...unfortunately that was wrong.
I only heard about it because on May 26 this year against the Padres, Giancarlo Stanton broke the record for the most Golden Sombreros in a career with 28.

Other than that fun quiz, thanks! 👍
The new rules I hear of that also made it way over to the KBO with the tie breaker in the 9th and the timer must also include the DH? Sigh.
