Never heard of them either. Nor Acura. Lincoln and Mustang are American brands that have no presence in Britain so I was always gonna struggle with them.
I've seen Mustangs all over Europe. You always blame your ignorance on where you live I seriously see you do this on every quiz of this sort. here, buy a Lincoln in the UK.
Or Kalbahamut you could look at the figures and see that on the UKs most popular used car website (autotrader) there are 4 lincolns for sale out of a total of 479,435 cars, and 0 mustangs, so the likelihood of ever having seen one in the uk is unlikely. Just because you love to take every opportunity to tell everyone how well travelled you are doesn't mean that everyone else is, sheesh
there's just under 20 thousand mustangs on uk roads - (https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/). They're not common like fiestas, but to suggest the mustang brand isn't widely recognised is absurd
so what? That's not the point. I got Skoda. Never seen a single one on the roads in the USA. Stop complaining so much and you'd have more time to travel.
Given the enormous cultural reach of US media, Mustang and Lincoln seem fair game to me. Acura - sorta. Scion - every day less so. Not many Americans really even remember Saturn, which was a significant brand of GM for two decades. Anyway, it's a quiz testing trivia knowledge, not a bigger rooster contest.
Agree, I'm in the UK and not a car nerd but I got Mustang, Lincoln I recognised but couldn't place it in time. Acura and Scion are new to me. I think this is a good spread of nations represented.
As far as I could see, rather than complaining Algernon was just making a point, and a valid one at that, stating that those US cars are rarely seen in the UK making those the most obscure answers for us. And whilst I have seen the odd Mustang in the UK, I have never seen a Lincoln here in my 54 years
It's not accurate. I've seen Mustangs in Britain and all over Europe in fact, in pretty significant numbers. So it's not accurate. He could have just said "I've never seen a Mustang in the hamlet where I live"... that may have been accurate. But he never phrases it that way. He always makes it sound like it's literally impossible anyone outside of the US would know about American things... which is bollocks... and then he goes and makes nearly identical complaints on dozens if not hundreds of other quizzes. Always complaining about American things, never about Japanese or Russian or French things. Always claiming (inaccurately) that there's no Earthly way anyone could know about these things if they weren't from America. And this is just silly and tiresome. Mustangs are literally everywhere. I've seen them in Romania, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the Philippines.. they're everywhere. Much more than Skoda. But Skoda isn't American so no complaints about that.
There are approximately 40 million cars in the UK, of which around 4000 are Ford Mustangs, or one in ten thousand. I have seen a few over the years and have even known people who have owned one but to say that they are seen in significant numbers is not accurate either
Opel used to be big in the UK until the late 80s when they all got bundled in the marketing bag as Vauxhalls. There were a few models that were only ever sold under the Opel badge - the Opel Manta being the best known of them. That was one of the best looking hot coupés of its day, though time has been less kind to it in general, though some of the rally spec models still cut it.
BTW - the Opel brand pretty well saved GM in the 90s - still a big seller in Europe.
Mercedes is actually called Mercedes-Benz after Karl Benz and Mercedes Jellinek merged their companies together in 1926. It would be nice if you could correct this mistake.
I'm curious: why do you leave a single letter on two of the logos? It kinda takes a bit of the challenge away, especially on a quiz where almost all of the answers have been guessed correctly by over 50% of quiztakers...
Bentleys are in the ballpark of Rolls Royces. Over the top luxurious cars that are extremely pricey. Originally a British brand, German tech. Just like Rolls Royce. Except where RR has BMW tech, Bentley has Audi/Volkswagen tech.
Kind of confusing that Mustang is the only car-specific logo on the list (the rest are car manufacturers). Logo should probably just be Ford. Also Scion is not in production anymore... not saying it should be removed necessarily but it is a bit of a trick question considering they were rather obscure to begin with.
Škoda is a car manufacter originating in Czechoslovakia. When they split up, Czech Rep. and Slovakia both claim it as theirs (same with Kofola). Both have manufacters and both have car stores. It is the most popular car in both countries.
I actually had to think twice before I realised that was the answer.
I like how I always learn new things on jetpunk.
