The Ute (or utility, equivalent to the US pickup) was a body style available in the Holden Kingswood and then Commodore platforms. Ford and Chrysler/Valiant did a similar thing with their large sedans. I remember seeing a Holden Kingswood ute in South Africa, where it was badged as a Chevy El Camino...
Don't be too surprised. I got Holden thanks to Jeremy, Richard and Captain Slow (Mr. Slowly in Italy), but once my knowledge was exhausted I just started guessing high population/demand nations. I suspect many fellow quizzlers did the same.
if you look at the Wiki car manufacturer list (or any other car list) you'll see, like, millions of Chinese car brands that nobody that isn't Chinese knows about. Didn't get Geely or Seat.
There's a bunch here in the Midwest, seem to see one about once a week, even up here in the tundra! I've seen plenty when traveling out to the Bay Area as well. They're around most major metros now.
no idea where you are from, but you see them quite reguarly here in the netherlands. I think in 2014 it was still a bit rare to see them. But now, travelling to my dads, which is a 2 hour trip I usually see atleast 5 and that is without paying attention.
( I can see 3 in about 5 minutes, here in my town, but that doesnt count I think, you get a better image if you go by what you see on a highway)
500 USD It is the price for the oldest models, before 2000 or even oldest. In the last years, after Renault bought Dacia, the new models are really good
Land Rover, Subaru, and Renault are notably missing. Also a bunch of the luxury brands, like Audi, Jaguar, Maserati, Bentley, Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, Cadillac, etc. but I guess you could say that those are covered by their parent companies, which are on the list.
The quiz isn't a definitive list. I never really understand why people say such-and-such is missing from particular quizzes, as if they think that a quiz is testing you on everything in a category.
If it is put that way it is not a problem, like: there is also,,..
but I agree with fitheach, usually it is like; you missed this or that answer !! which really does imply the quizmaster made an error and forgotten to put some answers on the quiz. also agree with fifteach that it is hard to imagine why people would think that.
nothing wrong with making suggestion, but usually it is more like a you are wrong fix this. so yeas, you could call that a problem, though fiftheach was merely expressing his surprise.
I'm surprised more people know where Tata (or Geely) comes from than Dacia. It is named after the ancient Roman name for the geographical area where present-day Romania is located.
Perfectly reasonable that more people might be familiar with the largest car maker in the country with 1/5 of the world's population than they are about an ancient Roman name for the area containing modern Romania.
Why don't you message all the other countries of the world and tell them that they should build up their automotive industries so you can have more fun taking this quiz.
Well in this case (though a lot of time it is indeed not because of the content that variety is missing..) those are simply the leading carmanufactureing countries. when thinking of car producing countries i think of italy germany and japan. (and only then I might start thinking about individual brands and where they come from)
They even could have put in more car brands from these countries which are a lot more famous than the most of the others. Like Mercedes, Audi etc. You can't change the world economies just for a quiz...
I saw a lot of Dacias driving around Romania. You could also guess this if you knew your Roman history. I saw a few Tatas in Saudi Arabia and more in India. Though the most impressive tatas I ever saw might have been in Munich during Oktoberfest.
Dacia are regularly advertising on TV in the UK, last year reached 100k on UK roads (more than many others on this list). Tata built a new development centre in the UK last year, though figures on the road hardly reflect that.
never heard of geely and tata. And Apparently wasnt sure about where seat is from, also missed dacia, I knew it was from an eastern european country, but not which one and didnt want to spend my time typing trying different names.
from the 30 on the list I think I see, 16 here regularly (toyota, bmw, ford, hyundai, honda, volvo. suzuki, fiat, seat, citroen, (nissan not so much anymore), vw, mazda, peugot and (dacia only recently). skoda more than nissan I think actually..)
Ones I have never even once seen here are, lamborghini geely, rollsroyce, holden, chrysler, tata, aston martin. (car shows etc excluded, cause might have seen lambo, royce, and aston martin on special days)
Ones I allways see, but are not on here are opel, audi, renault, daihatsu, mitsubishi, mini hmm I am sure there are more that are very common, cant think of them atm though. ow yea duh mercedes..
Never heard of Holden or Geely, and never thought Dacia was from Romania! However I knew Škoda was from Czech republic as both of my parents drive them. Got mixed up between Japan and South Korea.
While true in a technical sense, it's akin to saying that Bud Light is a Belgian beer because Anheuser-Busch is owned by AB Inbev, which is based in Belgium, or that soon Chrysler, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Dodge, Jeep, etc. will all be Dutch brands soon.
So...? Even if he did gain most of his experiences there (he didn't), Tesla is not manufactured in South Africa nor based off of South African cars. It is a truly American company.
Having watched top gear helped so much lol, I got Holden and Geely first try because of the trio. Although Skoda and Kia caused me some trouble i figured them out with time to spare
England.
Even the name "Nobody" of the first commenter exactly complies with the actual comment.
