Excellent idea! I've seen it suggested it several times but that's awesome to see it finally becoming true. Can't wait to see what original quizzes we will get when it will be accessible to everyone.
This new quiz format is a good one, but in the end it's just a minor change for the already existing Map Quizzes. It's just about reversing the way they are played (to be honest, this new way is definitely better than what Map Quizzes were before, thank you for that!)
I hope you will consider changing former Map Quizzes into this new format; instead of featuring the exact same quizzes but reversed. It would be such a shame for the website to me if featured quizzes start to be duplicated...
In my opinion, this quiz format is more of a new (and much better) way of presenting Map quizzes than a distinct format.
I asked earlier if this would be an option added to the existing format or a format of its own. I really think the first option would be the best and would allow updating existing quizzes by integrating this functionality which works much more smoothly than the classic presentation of Map quizzes.
I 100% agree about not having quizzes get refeatured, resulting in almost the same quiz being featured twice.
However I feel there are some more nuanced differences with this type of quiz that feel quite different even if what you press is flipped. I’ll try to explain that below.
I feel like there’s a distinction between pressing the location on the map and pressing the answer in a box. This is different on either mobile and desktop. In desktop, you’re able to go much faster by starting to type the first letters of answers. This allows for “speed running.” In this new format you have to be more careful by looking around for the answer to click yourself. In map quizzes like [continent] Map Quiz, these will be very similar except for being reversed as you mentioned. The main difference would be the speed and care taken when doing the quizzes.
Also think of if someone tells you, “point to this thing” versus “what am I pointing to”. In principle these are equivalent (which is why I agree we shouldn’t have two versions of most map quizzes that already exist), but I feel like there’s enough nuance and distinction here to have maybe one or two doubles (such as US states).
My other main point is that in the old map quiz format, answers were highlighted on the map, but in this one that isn’t the case. Therefore in some instances you have to be careful what you click. Think about regions with exclaves for examples. You have to rely on a greater knowledge to know where to press.
For that reason, I think it might be best to do something in this new format to feature like clicking the US states / countries / regions on a borderless map instead of refeaturing other map quizzes as you already mentioned. (Which I’ll make if no one races to beat me.) This new format should allow for new adaptions of what we have to use its strengths.
Another thought I had is how in the old map quiz format the ability to have arrows or magnifying glasses appear when certain things were highlighted was a strength of the old format that aren’t present in this one.
I might be annoyed having to use this format for say a city quiz where I have to press little city dots where some are very close.
I love the idea of being able to switch the format of already existing quizzes between map quiz types, but I would hate to see the old format enter disuse and be 100% refavored for this one.
Thank you for having a mini map of the north eastern states. My cubby fingers thank you as Delaware and Rhode Island become a real challenge on quizzes like this!
I love this type of quiz but when I press the screen it's selecting the adjacent state and saying it's incorrect. I've cleaned my screen, maximised the touch screen size and sensitivity and it's still doing it (e.g. when I touch Colorado it highlights Utah as incorrect, etc).

Thought I'd feed back. Thanks.
