My guess is that not many people have seen it, comparatively. It looks like it's rated R, and wasn't released by one of the top .. 6? production companies.
I always type it on movie quizzes - it's there are least half of the time, along with Zoolander. After seeing Lebowski lauded so often on this site I watched it. It was okay, but give me a good rom-com any day. I laugh more at the subtle humor in Jane Austen films than I did at Lebowski - to each his or her own.
Totally agree .Lebowski is a good movie but is overrated .The true classic on this list is Blues Brothers. Hot shots part deux is actually a very funny movie also.
Only 53% got Spaceballs even with such an obvious quote? Sad. And same for Big Lebowski, although I was unaware of the gender hap that Irish41 mentioned. I personally have it as my 2nd favorite Coen Brothers movie though, behind fhe massively underrated Hudsucker Proxy...Proxy, Lebowski, True Grit, Fargo, and No Country for Old Men are my top 5 from the Coens, although I like ALMOST everything they make...O Brother Where Art Thou, Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, Raising Arizona, and Ladykillers are all awesome.
Maybe the Spaceballs quote was obvious 20-30 years ago, though I don't want you to feel old! Let's be honest, it wasn't an astounding comedy, and I doubt many people born in the 90s onwards have seen it.
also I can't decide on another quote, so many good ones. I have the "your phone's ringin' dude......thank you Donny!" as my ringtone haha
