I apparently think that conjure should spelled 'conjour' and consequently failed to get that one. Ho hum. I learned I need to brush up on my spelling, today.
Hmm, concoct seems a bit odd; I've never associated it with mixing; in fact, not even entirely with potions. Also, is a convict necessarily a jailbird? Rest of the quiz is nice though.
Oh I am happy with concoct, now that you show it to me. What is a conconction? But I thought the answer was confect, you certainly might confect a potion.
The conclave is not the group of cardinals (a more correct term for that would be the College of Cardinals), it's the meeting of election which takes place.
Arrgh. Suffered from a last minute burst of absolute word blindness there, and couldn't *not* read the clue as "preacher's frock". Went through several imaginary items of ecclesiastic dress trying to work out what it could possibly be...
Strictly speaking, the College of Cardinals during Conclave elect the Pope. Don't mean to be nit-picky, but Conclave isn't necessarily the group, merely the time period, which in lockdown, in which the cardinals elect the next pope.
Otherwise, fabulous quiz! Trickier than I thought at times, but maybe that's just my brain fog haha
This is CONcerning. The CONtext of this quiz was easy, but I had to CONtort my brain so much during this CONfounding quiz that I almost got a CONcussion. Luckily, I managed to CONtrol myself. Still, I don't know how some people CONquered this quiz. I myself was so CONfused. They must be CONmen! I was CONfident at first, but now I need to CONsider whether I want to CONtinue. This hurts my head, I think I have a CONdition. I need to CONsult a doctor. I CONgratulate those of you who CONtained yourself.
In CONclusion, thanks for your CONtributions. I CONfess, I CONfirmed some of the answers in the comments. Without it, I wouldn't even be able to CONstruct this comment.
