Ouch. You got me on Rockefeller - I got caught up trying to match up the modern-day corporation (Exxon) instead of what it was known by back when he ran it.
Nice idea for a quiz. I had never heard of Iacocca, Kroc or Nooyi. I was surprised by the global nature of their companies, I was half expecting a company that whilst big in America hadn't the same presence across the pond. Although I see Iacocca retired in ‘92, that’s a bit before my time of reading the business section in papers.
You could add Phil Knight of Nike or Howard Schultz of Starbucks.
This quiz includes both past and present CEOs, so it's okay for Jack Dorsey to be on here. That being said, Twitter should be accepted as a type-in for Elon Musk.
Tried "Ford" for Iacocca about six times because I know he oversaw the development of the Mustang, but eventually got Chrysler because I know he was a car guy. I remember reading an article about Nooyi like 15 years ago. That's the only reason I've heard of her. The rest are all very gettable. Surprised Jamie Dimon is so low. He is the biggest name in finance.
Men are subject to far more pressure to make money and "succeed" in their careers than women are and so get pushed into these types of jobs by culture. Additionally, becoming a corporate CEO or high-ranking politician is less correlated with privilege than it is with psychopathy, and men are more predisposed toward that than women are. Also, many of these CEOs are very old (some are dead) and it's true that several decades ago women were not given the same opportunities as men. Finally, though I think this is the least important factor, while men and women have the same average intelligence, there are more outliers among men: more that are very stupid, and also more that are geniuses.
I mostly agree with your assessment. With some of the recent upstart politicians (and outspoken, misinformed voters) in the US, I'm less certain that the rate of stupidity is lower among women. Seems there's plenty to go around.
