Poor you... My friends name is Hung(a)ry Turkey Bush. He visited the U.S. before the Thanksgiving day once. They gave him so much food to eat, he became very fat and than during the one november day... Well he came back home without one arm. Luckily for him, he found a place to hide. Some bush.
You're laughing, but I'm going to name my kids Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Federated States of Micronesia. And I will insist people use their full names.
my name is Former Yugoslav Republic Of Macedonia Williams. My brothers name is Central African Republic Williams and sisters name is United States Williams. Wee are very happy family
My name is Al Jumahiriyah al Arabiyah al Libiyah ash Shabiyah al Ishtirakiyah al Uzma (libya) and my dad is Democratic People's Republic of Korea and my mother is United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I was born in Tetaumatawhakatangihangakoauaotamateaurehaeaturipukapihimaungahoronukupoka
I will make my name The Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab with a last name of The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Middle name: The Democratic People's Republic of Korea. So, my name will be The Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab The Democratic People's Republic of Korea The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. I insist that people use my full name, or I treat them as a nonentity.
Do you have a brother named Krungthepmahanakhon Amonrattanakosin Mahintharayutthaya Mahadilokphop Noppharatratchathaniburirom Udomratchaniwetmahasathan Amonphimanawatansathit Sakkathattiyawitsanukamprasit?
I have 7 boys, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Wouldn't you know it, they all insist on being called Stan.
@Jerry928 I was wondering the same thing. Even if there is only one Cuba, shouldn't it be on here? It's not a 'most popular' quiz so it wouldn't be eliminated on that that basis.
I was so hoping the quiz would be more things like Philip for Philippines or Lucia for St Lucia and not names like Turkey. Then again, Turk from Scrubs...
Turki is a very popular name in Saudi Arabia. But the name of the country in Arabic is Turkia. Turki translated to English would be Turkish... like Jason Statham's character in Snatch.
We thought we were ahead of the curve by naming our daughter Federated States of Micronesia Smith, but there are like three of them at our day care. I should have just gone with my wife's suggestion of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Cuba is listed on the source, which claims there are just over 100 people with the name alive in the United States in 2020. Seychelles is a name that not even 100 people have, if the source is accurate. America didn't show up on this list, either, but according to another page it was the 410th most popular name in the US in 2002.
I've met a few women named Mali here in Wales - it's a Welsh variation of Molly. Would be interesting to see which countries are commonly used as names in different countries around the world :)
Ireland crossed my mind for some reason, but I thought there's no way anyone would be called that. I'm kinda surprised that China and France did not make the list.
I so wanted Hungary to make this list. Just think of the resulting confusion. Who the heck names their kid Malaysia, though? Never would have guessed that.
My parents decided to go with a city name instead of a country one. However, they wanted to use the traditional name of the city in the language spoken there, so I'm named Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit. That's only my given name, though. My last name is, in the same vein, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
Funnyfact: here in Brazil, some years ago there was a soapopera with a family named after countries. The kids were called Israel, Italy, Afghanistan (!!) and Belgium. Their mother, if i'm not mistaken, was called Australia, and her siblings also had country names.
Tho, calling your children after countries is not common here. The only ones I remember to meet were Israel and Georgia. Brazilians are way more creative in this topic. Most of the names probably come from catholic religion, but we have lots of very creative and specific names that only exist here.
Now I'm thinking of countries that would make great names: Liberia, Andorra, Monaco, Vatican, Austria, Lesotho, Mali, Colombia, Argentina, Trinidad, Canada, Norway . . .
Joke's on you when your kid grows up and legally changes her name to North Macedonia.
He had a few germs that he had Turkey. It worked but then he became fat for 2 seconds. He changed his name to Smith

That being said, I know it's a name... just forgot it's a country xD
"Mike for Michael?"
"No, for Federated States of Micronesia."
'Hello little Malaysia!"
"Hi Ireland"
These poor children, probably bullied XD
