Took me a bit to get the African lake nation.

I missed the word "north" and kept typing Malawi thinking I was spelling it wrong.

Same here. I tried Malawi and then Tanzania before I saw that it's about North Africa.

I didn't even think of the lake, as I thought it had shrunk to a shadow of its former size. Though I understand it is recovering - slightly.

Slovakia didn't split from the Czech Republic, rather Czechoslovakia dissolved into the two separate nations.

I know what you mean and my first reaction was the same as yours. Indeed, I suspect the author of the quiz might in fact have meant to wirte Czechoslovakia and made a little mistake. However, in a different sense Slovakia did indeed split form the Czech Republic, just like a husband splits from a wife, since until December 1992 they both were two distinct constituent states of one Czechoslovak federation which at the split ceased to exist, just like a marriage does.

No. Australia administered both former colonies in the north and south since just after WW1.

In the baseball question, you said "other the United States." It should be "other than the United States."

I read them all but felt time was too short too. Enough if you instantly know them all immediately but no time to think.
