England IS a country. If you refuse to include it because it's a part of the socio-economic union that is the United Kingdom, then you cannot include France, Germany, Spain or any of the other EU members as countries, as the EU is also a socio-economic union.
Oh please! England has not been an independent sovereign country in its own right since 1707. England is part of the United Kingdom. It really is quite sad how many people from the UK don't understand how the UK is constituted - this is basic stuff.
They actually don't understand the difference between a sovereign country and an alliance of sovereign countries. Hence Brexit and all that stupidity about "getting their sovereignty back".
Yes it is, and it was the only one I didn't get. Also if you didn't include England(from UK), than why include East Timor as it is also called Timor-Leste?
Got them all, again, with 17 seconds left between 9:44 and 9:46 PM on February 21, 2019. Equatorial Guinea was the last one I typed in. Eswatini was one of the first I typed, not surprising since the change was so recent.
"Eswatini (Swazi: eSwatini [ɛswa̯ˈtiːni]), officially the Kingdom of Eswatini (Swazi: Umbuso weSwatini) and also known as Swaziland, is a landlocked country in Southern Africa. It is bordered by Mozambique to its northeast and South Africa to its north, west and south."
Learnt something today - thank you. eSwatini - is the 'new' name proclaimed by their King for Swaziland - in 2018. I'm guessing most quizzes will now include the new name for Swaziland along with Swaziland.
I would argue that "El Salvador" should be classed as beginning with S, not E. You don't class the United Kingdom as beginning with "T", for example, do you?
Re UK - no you don’t, because The is not part of its official name. Whereas El is a part of El Salvador’s. Fortunate that Washington follows UK’s example, otherwise 328 million people would live in the Trumpian nation of TUSOA.
got 100% yay !! (1:05 left) I actually got east timor on a quiz !!! 99% of the times I forget it ( together with gabon and samoa, and cape verde, though since today I started getting cape verde and samoa too)
I applaud jetpunk for using Eswatini, which is the Swazi name for the country known in English as Swaziland, since the country has requested to be henceforth referred to by that name in international institutions. At some point, you'll have to explain to me why the same logic doesn't apply to Côte d'Ivoire.
Not impressed with the video you linked - the narrator is totally wrong in his commentary on views of how each country/nation sees the others. It's stereotypical in it's overtones
Somehow when my brother was trying to do this quiz, he instead typed ''England'' and got ''East Timor'' wrong even though ''England is the capital of ""London right?
there is a 55.5555555556% chance that the country will be African a 22.2222222222% chance that it will be in the Americas (both north and south) a 11.1111111111 chance that it will be European and a 11.1111111111 chance that it will be Asian
Gonna be honest I always called it Timor Leste. The creator should propably add a disclaimer telling the quiz taker that the quiz will be using exclusively the English names for countries.
lol I forgot that people call Timor-Leste east Timor, I get that they can be used interchangeably like cote d'Ivoire and ivory coast but it never even crossed my mind as being an e country
Can anyone please tell me why England is never accepted as a separate country on here. It’s always United Kingdom. United Kingdom is made up of four countries..England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It’s a bit of an insult saying United Kingdom is one country.
When the word "country" is used on this website, it probably means "sovereign state"; the UK is a sovereign state that the countries England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales are a part of.
Portuguese
and England is a sub region of the United Kingdom.
Known as Swaziland before.
sry;'(
