I finally undid the timer and went all through each country around the world...That got me Swaziland. Then I tried the alphabetical holes and got Solomon Islands. But of all things, Saudi Arabia escaped my mind, ever though I pictured it in my mind and went through each country around it, staring at its shape in my mind. Is this because I'm 61? Do I need gingko biloba? Never see it like we did 15 yrs ago...did it have adverse side effects? I once fit all of Calif law in my mind, using a single sheet of paper with one word clues, connected to one another, that brought every area of law into my mind...I hate getting old! I always wonder, "Is this altzheimers?" "Stress?" Thanks to you guys, I learned every country tho I'll never type fast enough for you. But then I get these holes where I know it, but it's gone, and I am unaware. Are you young people like that too?
OK, first of all Grandpa, All jet-punkers are not youngl. At 60 I'm right behind you. Is it in fact your age? Sadly, Yes.
Stress? I doubt it, although it is stressful being a lawyer from California. I think the likely culprit is cramming every single California law into your mind at the same time. That is bad for your health Pops! At our age we've gotta be careful.
Try upping that Gingko Biloba. And if you've got to cram things into your mind, start with a small list, like a list of all the countries in the world, or all 50 States. Or if that seems too daunting, start with a list of your favorite politicians. That's doable for any American! ;)
I'm glad I'm not the only golden oldie whose brain feels like Swiss cheese with all the knowledge leaking out of it. And if i don't feel like it's leaking out, then I literally feel the roadblocks which are preventing me from accessing the knowledge I have stored in my memory banks. I have to say, though, that taking these quizzes is good for me. I really think they knock down some of the roadblocks when I force myself to go through or around them to get to the knowledge that is there. I, too, have managed to remember all the countries of the world, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to remember all the capitals. And I used to be considered intelligent. Bah!
Watch all the whiners roll in as the quiz asks for countries, not sovereign states. Nevermind, they'll whine about excluding Scotland even if you change the text.
It wouldn’t accept Swaziland for me either. This was the second country I typed in but didn’t realise that it hadn’t been accepted until I had typed swazilandswitzerlandserbiaslovakiasloveniaspainsenegalsaudiarabiasouthkoreasouthsudansouthmacedonia
I got Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka (and one time Solomon Islands), but now I missed Spain? HOW CAN I MISS SPAIN!?!?!? I swear that sometimes when you play these "Countries that start with" quizzes, some of the most obvious countries are left blank in your mind.
I do the South America quiz, get 100% percent, and do the Europe quiz at least a million times, then proceed to forget Switzerland and Suriname. yay. you guys just read a comment that is very unoriginal and now i'm just typing for fun.
What, the same SeaLand that cruelly kidnaps, maltreats and forces orcas to perform, and shut down after a whale killed a trainer, only for the same whale to be sold to SeaWorld Orlando and kill another two people?
I did, as one commenter suggested, and began with the countries I usually forget (Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Solomon Islands), and then filled in the rest... and almost forgot SPAIN. In my mind, Spain will always be Espana.
same here... I started with the ones I knew and then filled in based on alphabetical order. I missed Syria, San Marino, Singapore, and Solomon Islands. (p.s. please try my quizzes!)
United Nations were officially notified that Czechia is now to be used in English, just like Moldova, Cabo Verde and Cote d'Ivoire ... The only difference is that Swaziland actually changed its name in its own official language, so the English speaking world feels like they should follow. Czechia has always had a short and long name in Czech and many other European languages, but somehow not in English and the change is perceived only as a style suggestion, so it's ignored.
Things also boil down to English not having a language authority, so any editor/webmaster/Quizmaster ultimately make their own decision about the choice of official or unofficial name, or the choice between long and short form.
This is one of those quizzes where you know all the answers but the quiz does some weird psychological thing that sends them all to the ends of your mind
I saw the comment at the top of the quiz saying how it was Eswatini instead of Swaziland on this quiz, and my brain went "Ok!" and instantly forgot it. It was the third one I tried to type in XD
Eswatini isn't called Swailand anymore so that doesn't count anymore. Also Scotland is not a recognized country, rather its part of the UK, so it also doesn't count.
what about using Suomi for Finland? Or ROC for South Africa? A lot of countries have "state of" in their names. Those double standards for Swaziland are kinda cringe. Waiting for Turkiye then
