Georgia has great achievements in women's chess. Armenia-Azerbaijan is a different deal entirely, where the geopolitical rivalry is manifesting in real life in a sense. Armenia has even added chess classes for all students to my knowledge.
@Yamaneko Kasparov was indeed born in Baku, but he played for Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union. If he is counted at all (he's not active anymore, after all), I think he is counted as a Russian.
Armenia was the first country I guessed, as I learned a while ago that chess is taught in schools there (to help children learn strategic and logic skills).
In Europe. But seriously, only countries with 3 or more players ranked. Carlsen might be the top player, but he's the only Norwegian in the top 100, so Norway doesn't meet the cut.
I was recently in St. Louis and got to visit the World Chess Hall of Fame. Not a big museum but it was fun to say I'd been there and they do have the world's biggest chess piece. It's actually made out of wood and is quite well-varnished and beautiful as an outdoor art object.
I'm from Missouri and had no idea that is located in St. Louis. I knew the Bowling Hall of Fame used to be located there but I think it moved to Texas. Thanks for the info. I'll see that my granddaughter visits there. She's into chess.
This quiz really needs to be updated; especially with the recent growth of chess. Azerbaijan is actually still with 4, hungary and armenia have 1 and 2 respectively, spain is up to 4, https://ratings.fide.com/top.phtml?list=men according to this link.
India has 8; the netherlands have 3 now, germany has 3, you get the point. It's a lot and probably will be a tougher quiz with more countries with 3 or more.
...poor Georgia
but the queens we use would not excite you.
Not the first time and probably not the last

Iran, Uzbekistan, Poland, Romania will make the list, Hungary will be dropped off. Update needed
