Damn only by reading the comments I realised that as soon as I started the quiz I forgot it was a chain one (am mass quizing, so it s like, next!) I thought, why was he looking for a country with s haha.. only after your s, d comment something clicked...
That may or may not have been influence by american dislike of all things Italian in the 19th century. I think people forget every country had immigrants that were mistreated in some by americans. Except the UK maybe.
In the North of England 'Clogs' or wooden shoes were used in some jobs in the 'good old days'. especially when working in wet conditions. The whole shoe is not wood however, just a deep wooden sole with leather top parts.
It is a national dish in Ukraine. I noticed that after the whole business with the Crimean peninsula went down, they stopped serving it in a lot of restaurants in Moscow.
It's a word chain. The last letter of the word before is the first letter of the word after. Because Tuvalu ends in a U, it must be Ukraine because countries like Russia, Belarus and Poland begin with different letters. If you skip Ukraine, the next country is Ecuador. None of the countries above end with an E either.
English is hard... when I read "poppy", I just thought it was the pretty bright red flower and it didn't even cross my mind that it was, in fact, the plant that produces opium... even then I probably wouldn't have guessed hahaha
A country beginning with N where fjords are found. Almost typed in New Zealand, as that would be a valid answer (but subsequently upsetting the chain) - NZ even has a national park with "fjord" in the name (although spelled fiord) (of course, common sense would kick in once New Zealand was not accepted as the correct answer).
Being a Brit I thought you were talking about the commemorative poppies we wear in November for WWI and thought the answer must be France or Belgium e.g. The Battle of the Somme. Didn't think you meant opium poppies.
"Where wooden shoes are celebrated" really? I think it is the other countries that do that, coming to the netherlands and buying all kinds of touristsy crap err I mean souvenirs with clogs and tullips.
you make it sound like it is of our present day culture, and we throw clog parties. And have a special day for it etc. I think most people go through life without ever thinking about it once, besides when it is mentioned by foreigners. (Or when you are in amsterdam where there is a souvenir shop every 50meters..)
I guess you cóuld say has become known for. Clogs were used in many countries. And well all countries had different footwear at one point in time, cause obviously there were no sneaker factories yet ;)
I don't get it. Do you want to erase your wood shoe culture? If so, say the word, and I'll do it. I'll replace the question with something about cloudy days, or microgastronomy, or most sex workers per capita or something.
I think wood shoes are neat. Most people think they're neat.
But I guess you want to be a cool, edgy country, like the U.S. or the U.K. I say that you really don't. Treasure your culture. Take pride in the things that make you different. Don't be just another lame clone that copies whatever they are doing in Los Angeles.
As an Austrian I only got the last clue because of the many Americans who asked me in my life whether I have seen the sound of music. I have not. No Austrian has seen it.
Rubbish. It's one of the most popular musicals in the history of film. And there are many tours in Salzburg to areas where scenes in the musical were filmed and/or set. I went to Salzburg a few years back and went to many of those places. Spectacular
I too went on a "Sound of Miusic" tour in Salzburg. But there were no Austrians in it - only foreigners. As Noldig says, most of the locals don't know what it's all about.
Fun fact: ask any Austrian about The Sound of Music, no one knows it. It's just an American stereotype, but if you guys go to Austria you won't find hollering and yodeling people all over the mountains. Still funny to think about hough :p
Yeah I think it's the context of what comes after, so since the next one starts with T you just have to go with Egypt even though the statement on its own could very well apply to Ethiopia
For the Genocide question, my brain okay... starts with R ends with A. Romania! No. Russia? No. Dang. How many countries are spelled like this?! Sure it's not Romania?? NO. Okay Okay wait. Rwanda!! Finally I got it.
It's really annoying that the only thing that can be associated with Rwanda is the genocide. Rwanda is home to Gorilla's, it's in East Africa. It was colonized by both Germany and Belgium. The major ethnic groups are Hutu and Tutsi, etc
Spent way too long with a country on the Nile beginning with E. I tried Ethiopia and Eritrea multiple times getting increasingly annoyed. There aren't any other countries in Africa beginning with E! ohhhhh. @#$%^&
Complete brain fart moment.
Besides, Nepal isn't the only Himalayan country, Togo isn't the only neighbor of Benin, etc.
100%!!!!!!!

100% with 2:44 leftover
Are there more Geography Chains?
Only one I missed GRRRR
Thanks!
i'll see myself out
Research and update this quiz.
The previous answer starts with "R". As Rermany and Relgium aren't countries, at least last time I checked, this is fairly clear.
