I thought that ruthless is one of those negatives where the equivalent positive is never found. Have you ever heard anyone described as having "ruth"?

I think "noob" should work for Neophyte, if we are really trying to dumb it down.

And "genie" really isn't another word for "djinn," it's just a corruption of "djinni" which is the plural of "djinn," not even that much of a corruption, really, as corrupted words go.

yes thanks for the link. I knew all of that. what are you trying to prove? I've also got the original AD&D Monster's Compendium so I know where this stuff about djinn and ifrit comes from.

D&D djinn

original mythological source of Ifrit

Note it says Ifrit are a subclass of Djinn. Ifrit are Djinn. They are not seperate races of "genie" as in D&D and the many different RPGs and fantasy novels/films that copied them over the years. I live amongst people who still believe in these things.

so should yield...
+1

I don't think "yield" quite works, because its most common meaning is more to give way than to give up entirely.

In the UK, 'settee' and 'sofa' are used to mean 'couch' or Chesterfield.

...couch is more commonly used in america, despite the fact that it is derived from the french: coucher, to lie down, or thereabouts...unless it's used as a verb, of course......a chesterfield is a specific type of sofa...definitely not a couch...
