I'm guessing this is probably one of the quizzes that need updating the most often. I was actually surprised at the number of couples among these that were still together, because so many break up. Sad.
Keeping a child in an unhappy home with constant fighting is probably worse than just divorcing while you can still manage a cooperative relationship raising the child. "Stable home" doesn't just mean "two parents living together." It means...stable.
New contest on Jet Punk! Have a dead pool like competition to see who can guess the next couple from this list to get a divorce. Or have a list of famous Hollywood people and see who is the next to be outed as a Weinstein like monster.
Of all of the breakups, Josh Brolin and Diane Lane (not listed here) made me most sad. I was really pulling for those two; they made such an adorable couple, and seemed so grounded!
Might require fewer updates to add a caveat, "Current or former marriages." Then one could add couples from the past, too, such as Bogey & Bacall or Gable & Lombard.
Not really interested in celebrities' personal lives, so I didn't do very well on this one. Apparently getting 8 right only puts me in the 34th percentile and earns me 1 point. Ah well, plenty of other things I'd rather devote my brain-space to than which people I'll never meet are married to which other people I'll never meet.
Is Rita Wilson really famous in her own right, though? I know she's an "actress," but every role I can think of her having was a bit part that she likely only got because of her husband (as they're all his movies...Sleepless in Seattle, That Thing You Do, Larry Crowne). Has she been in anything else that anyone's heard of?
Pop country music has never been my thing. It's actually something I go out of my way to avoid. Hardly surprising then that the two country stars were the only two I didn't get. I'm okay with that.
I received 15/20 because I thought that Nicole Kidman was still married to Tom Cruise, Jessica Biel was married to Justin Bieber, Andre Agassi was still married to Brooke Shields, and Kim Kardashian was married to Snoop Dogg.
It's not about "having a life." I got all of them right except one, and I don't think I made it my business to actually learn any of these. I can also name at least three of the main Sex and the City characters despite never having seen an episode. This stuff is common knowledge, and most of us hear it randomly at some point. So, if anything, it's a question of retention. An mikey's point was that it's bizarre to brag about not knowing something. Which it is.
Is it intentional that the Spouses are generally more well-known than the Celebrities? From just the name, I can picture seven of the celebrities, but sixteen of the spouses.
Divorce, especially when children are involved, is always tragic.
Wanna mess with a human being? Mess around with their stable family environment. Wanna REALLY screw with that person's head? Do it when they're young.
