George Washington was born in Westmoreland County. James Madison lived in Orange County. Robert E. Lee lived in Arlington. Jefferson lived in Charlottesville.
Probably because the places where the colonial figures lived weren't incorporated as towns yet. They lived on sprawling private estates. I haven't looked into it, but I'd suspect Washington simply lived at "Mt. Vernon, in the colony of Virginia" rather than "Norfolk, Virginia" (or wherever Mt. Vernon is), which probably didn't exist yet.
Allen Iverson and the word "important" should never be used in the same sentence. Unless, of course, your idea of a real man is one who hits women in the head with chairs, does time in prison, illegally carries concealed weapons & illegal drugs, throws his wife out of the house NAKED, threatens people with a loaded gun, wields his fame and wealth to bully and intimidate completely innocent people who happen to be in the way of what he wants for himself, and can barely speak English. (he doesn't speak any other language)
Oops! I just remembered that Allen Iverson was really good at throwing a large balls through orange, metal circles. So check that previous comment. He's a really important guy after all.
I feel like "America's Sweetheart" is used for every beautiful, girl-next-door type of female celebrity. I've heard the term applied to Julia Roberts, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer, Aniston, Mila Kunis, and others. Besides, we all know America's Sweetheart is Gary Busey.
The only celebrity I've heard it referred to as America's Sweetheart is Sally Field and I knew it wasn't her since she never hosted any morning show. I don't pay attention to Katie Couric but I've never heard her referred to as America's Sweetheart and from what little I do know about her can't imagine why anyone would call her that.
googling the term just now returns images of Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Shirley Temple, Jennifer Lawrence, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston, Zendaya Coleman, Emma Stone, Blake Lively, and Reese Witherspoon among others. Did you use this same tactic, jmellor? A lot of overlap. And the first two were in a movie I've never seen called America's Sweethearts so that's probably why they show up so much. Shirley Temple makes the most sense to me.
Katie Couric has never commonly been referred to as "America's Sweetheart". That's a term usually applied to actresses. I've heard it for Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lawrence. I think that clue is a little off.
