The question doesn't specify it, but technically Israel is acceptable if it doesn't matter who gave him the name. The question should probably specify whether the name is given by the parents or by God.
Either way, I think Jacob probably should be the correct answer here.
I think Lilith appears as Adam's first wife mainly in Gnostic and some Jewish writings. In the Christian Bible, I've seen a few translations which listed Lilith as the night demon mentioned in Isaiah 34:14, but that is far later than the second person named.
gnostic texts. Which mean the only reason why she's not held as the 2nd person in mainstream Christian tradition as opposed to Eve is just random luck about which of the many contradictory early Christian texts were incorporated into the Bible and which weren't.
I am astonished that more people apparently knew the identity of the second Roman emperor than the title of the second original Star Wars movie. Although I bet if I looked back in a few weeks or months it would have changed.
I'm surprised by the very low number for the Star Wars question (52% as I write this comment). Wonder if it would make a difference if the clue specified release date, rather than plot chronology?
Actually I think most do. I dont think there is a soul in the world that doesnt watch tv or read books or daydream ( I said or, not and, I know plenty of people do not watch tv). And even in everyday functioning you need fantasy. If someone throws a frisbee, you need to imagine where it ends up, if you go by current reality you will be too late.
Strangely, the quiz accepted just "Anne" for me today. I wonder why it was changed. I think it should require the last name, since as you mentioned, wife #4 was an Anne as well.
Yep, once again a Harry Potter question is the only thing preventing a perfect score. As if Harry Potter stuff hasn't been focused on enough. In all of human history, of everything that came first and then had a second, we can't get through 20 or so questions without resorting to more Harry Potter crap? *sigh*
same here on potter and star wars , the amount of potter quizzes on here makes me think jetpunk has been overrun by a lot of overgrown kids .just take a look at any book quiz list, its ridiculous . grow up you people.
I'm not a real HP fan, but i feel like that book series is now an exceptional cultural reference of modern literature. Take into account that HP series are somehow more read than many classics. EVER.
Everything I like and know about is important cultural information worthy of contemplation and everything I don't know is therefore unimportant childish nonsense that shouldn't count as knowledge on a knowledge quiz! Wahhh!
Good quiz, it is surprising how we have been conditioned to favour the first, biggest, best, newest, smallest, etc. and we have to think for the second in line.
Why as many as 4 questions on just the US alone? 18% of the quiz! Moonwalker, Indiana Jones and Star Wars, while of US origin, are at least fairly international in interest, but 4 strictly US questions are vastly over-representative on what is supposedly a general quiz.
I think of the second Star Wars movie so automatically as "Empire" I had to think hard to get the rest of the answer. Thought "Empire" would be accepted.
Either way, I think Jacob probably should be the correct answer here.
real world events. Most of us don't live in fantasy world.
its just a quiz get over yourselves. All general trivia has this kind of stuff.
