Could I just say that I think the Venn Diagram of "People who know Zelda and the Ninja Turtles" and "People who know Gulliver's first name" would show an almost vanishingly empty set.

I mean, I got both. Nerds read and like video games.

I don't play video games, but know plenty of people who do, AND I am mostly aware of pop culture (yes, I'm including the TMNT in there, although I know some people will disagree), AND I am a certified English nerd who reads Shakespeare for fun. The boundaries can definitely overlap. Agree with joeythelemur below, though. It took me quite a while to remember Gulliver's first name as well, even though I knew immediately to whom the clue was referring.

Well, the defense is that "Gulliver" is an acceptable answer. It's a different question whether credit should be given without knowing the first name.

Not sure why you'd say that, I'd actually expect a positive correlation between people who got the Gulliver's Travels question and people who got the TMNT and Zelda questions right. Reading is already seen as a nerdy hobby and reading fantasy is seen as being even more nerdy, plus Zelda is a fantasy game series so there's a good chance fantasy fans will have heard of both.

It's updated now to 89% and 82%, but it is still a weird discrepancy. brandybuck96, HermioneGranger9 is pointing out that if you've seen the Star Wars movie(s), you should know both, but there's a rather large difference. (I think most men remember her form, forgetting her name. Especially in that bikini.)

@PanicAtHogwarts Spelling I suspect.

perhaps some people are just guessing a bunch of "L" names, of which Luke would be one of the first I'd think of

No idea what Gulliver's first name was, but figured that was the most likely answer and typed it in to great success.

Such a common first name 'Lemuel' I'm surprised everyone doesn't guess it.

I think I remembered his name only as Samuel. I guess for Germans that name makes more sense. Of course, that doesn't start with L, so I tried Liliputians instead, and got lucky that type-in has just been included.

How come only 53% knew Linus?

It's a comic strip in the USA and it doesn't really have the global power that Garfield does.

(Plus Linus is like the third character isn't he?)

Also, in Europe the characters are often renamed.

I think the answers should begin with 'L'. to have Gulliver as the answer to 'Fictional Characters beginning with L' seems pointless to me.

I'm shocked that Lloyd Christmas is the least-guessed.

I think that Lilliputians should be a valid answer to fictional characters starting with L. There are lilliputians in the picture

Man. Tough time finding an acceptable spelling of Louie. I thought their names were all spelled the same, and it was Huey, Duey, and Luey. That didn't work, so maybe they're spelled Hewey, Dewey, and Lewey. No love there, either. Louis? Still no. Apparently it's Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Who knew?

Same here, I tried about 10 different spellings bit didn't get the right one.

Actually, in Germany the names were changed and the only reason why I new the names at all was the movie "Silent Running", where 3 robots were named after them.

I knew her name, but I spelt it Lea then Leah... Maybe be a bit more lenient with that one?
