It should be especially since bundt is a type of cakes not just a specific cake. So in that one the overall classification is accepted but for baguette it isn't.

I thought the same thing - they looked like "B"reakfast sausages to me in the little picture. Had to zoom in to see that they were Brats.

Same happened to me. Thought about a B-name for these English/American breakfast sausages but never came to the idea that this might be Bratwürste. I am German. :-)

How could someone tell by zooming in? To me they look a lot skinnier than any bratwurst.

Yes, perhaps you could put North America in brackets on the picture? Most of Europe and all the old 'British' countries seem to call it Pak Choi.

It is tricky for the setters when foods don't always have an 'English' name.

Brussels sprouts lardons - cooked with some white raisins and bacon or pancetta...even my husband will eat them fixed that way. Yummm.

Yeah roasted Brussels sprouts are the way to go! Most people who hate them have been tortured with overcooked, soggy steamed ones I suspect. I do also like them halved and *lightly* steamed, with butter, salt and lemon juice, but that's next level sprout love.

We call that type of cake tulband (turban). No explanation needed as to why, I would say.
+1
Level 75
Jun 23, 2020
Do you have a specific recipe for that type of cake or is it anything made in that shape pan? Here, anything poured into a bundt pan becomes a bundt cake. My ex sis-in-law used to make a killer lemon bundt cake that she would glaze while still warm, and I had a friend who made a chocolate bundt cake that when cut revealed a vanilla filling in the center. I gotta stop thinking about cake - I'm supposed to be on a diet this week.

I entered "bangers" for bratwurst and it was accepted. 👍🏻

Level 73

I think "brat" should not be enough for "bratwurst", thats like accepting "republic" for the "republic of ireland", it's missing the most important part of the information. The word "brat" is the imperative of the verb "braten" which means "to barbecue something".
+5
Level 67

But in English, many people just call them "brats," so your analogy doesn't work. If an English speaker said "I'm going to the republic," you wouldn't know what he meant. If he said "I'm eating brats," you'd know what he meant.

If in english cantucci is said biscotti i'm fine but real name is just cantucci.

You're right. "Biscotti" is just the generic Italian word for "biscuits" or even "cookies". These are definitely "cantucci"
