Ha, 6 years later and I see a comment led to a quiz update. Got a good chuckle out of it (the only one I'm likely to get over that ridiculous "trade"/robbery).
Not at all, these are just notable changes, usually from a player that has been with one team for a long time and has become associated with that team name.
@Panos: Of the 4 major North American pro-sports (American football, baseball, basketball, and ice hockey) there is probably less trading of players in the NFL than in the other four. While some players do change teams via trade, that is usually during the NFL draft when players are traded for draft picks, while trades of an active player for another are rare. Players definitely change teams a good amount in the NFL, but it is mostly due to free agency and rarely due to trades.
Compare the trades made in NFL during its just passed trading dradline to those who were moved before Major League Baseball's deadline. The only NFL trade of note was Vernon Davis from San Francisco to Denver. In baseball MAJOR pieces moved: the World Champion Kansas City Royals traded for former Cincinnati Red Johnny Cueto, who was brilliant in the World Series; the NL Champion Mets added Yoenis Cespedes, who played like an MVP in his 2 months in NY.
Players move around in the NFL, but rarely from trades.
Are you referring to the draft-day trade? I don't think that really fits with the quiz. All the players in this quiz established themselves over many years with the first franchise before moving to the second. Rivers would work from the Chargers to the Colts, but Eli played his whole career with the Giants.
I would have bet my house that Favre went to the Vikings first. He was so unremarkable in New Jersey, I figured it was because he was older. That first Vikings team was probably the best team in the NFL that season. Saints voodoo wasn't very kind to them in the NFC championship.
The Jets actually started 8-3 the year they had Favre, then they tumbled to 9-7. It came out after the season that Favre played the last month with a torn biceps muscle in his throwing arm, but he insisted on playing anyway because he is an egomaniac. He threw interceptions all over the place in that last month, and played the Jets out of a shot at the postseason. He also sent lewd and unsolicited photos and voicemails to Jenn Sterger that year, which everyone brushes aside because for some reason the football world wants to fetishize "the big kid" Brett Favre. The guy is a sleaze and a jerk.
ok, just found this one after doing the baseball one, great concept and just finished this one too in the nick of time for a perfect score, I see the NBA one, now time to make the NHL one.
