He's also not an archaeologist. Paleontology studies ancient, pre-modern-human life through fossil remains. Anthropology studies human culture and society, past and present. Archaeology is the study of human prehistory and history through physical, material evidence (in some places, this is considered a sub-field of anthropology.)
So, for instance, a paleontologist would be excited to find a complete Dimetrodon skeleton. An archaeologist would be excited to find 14th-century Chinese coins in the western US. An anthropologist would be excited to find a tribe living in the Amazon that had had no previous contact with the outside world.

Fun Bobby: There are no hardware stores open past midnight in the Village.
Phoebe: That is funny.
Fun Bobby: I needed to buy a hammer the other night, and I'm out walkin' around the neighborhood, and I’m walking, and I’m walking, and I’m walking, and I’m walking….
Chandler: (interrupts) Ok so you were saying you were walking
Fun Bobby: …but apparently there are no hardware stores open past midnight in the Village.
Ok, I'm not an American and to be honest... I think the series being filmed in Manhattan is more than an accurate answer for an outsider, but to go as far as Greenwich Village?? How are we supposed to know?
Was it even mentioned in the series that they were in Greenwich Village?
Please no pretentious comebacks saying: "yOu ShOuLd HaVe gOoGLed iT!!!" Only a psychopath would google: In which neighbourhood did F.R.I.E.N.D.S take place?
They mention many times that the characters live in "the Village." That's not a generic term. In New York City, "the Village" means "Greenwich Village." It's a very specific, well-known neighborhood. And if you just type in "the Village," the quiz accepts it as correct. Seinfeld takes place on the Upper West Side. Everybody Loves Raymond takes place in the nearby suburb of Lynbrook, NY. The shows don't bludgeon you with these details, but they are definitely mentioned enough that it's fair to ask them. Not every question needs to be easy.
I'm an anthropologist, and I never studied dinosaurs.

You remind me of my Grandpa. He died of a brain tumor.

"Yeah, he carries around a monkey sometimes! Like you see paleontologists do once in a while! He's an everyday normal guy like you and me"
