I don't think Miriam is a form of Mary. It's a Hebrew name, and in the bible Miriam was the sister of Moses and Aaron. Molly and Polly are forms of Mary, however.
It is one of the trick of "mediums" to say to an audience that they are getting a message from someone named "Mary" or "Maria" or "Marie." The odds are that there are dozens of members in the audience who have a dead relative by that name. Saying it is someone whose name starts with "M" or "J" is another trick since there are so many common English names that start with those two letters.
I've lived in NOLA my entire life. There's no better way to identify yourself as a tourist than to say "Nawlins"...you can either trust me or I'll be happy to tell you "where you got dem shoes." ;)
Why I was going to write that word for word! But I think the “Nola” type-in is relatively new, well after this quiz was made. iirc even a year ago I was getting angry for having to type (and mistype) “neworleans” in every US cities quiz.
But Cairo or Lagos will likely overtake Mexico City in the next few years.
