As far as I know, Laika was famous for being the first dog in space. So: go to space, leave earth, fly to space, be in a rocket and so on... after a frustrating time, finally managed to type "leave orbit", which was accepted. Maybe something about space flight should be accepted too? (Unless orbiting is really the thing you want.)

From Wikipedia: On 22 July 1951, the Soviet Union launched the R-1 IIIA-1 flight, carrying the dogs Tsygan (Russian: Цыган, "Gypsy") and Dezik (Russian: Дезик) into space, but not into orbit.

A better question would be: what distinction did the group of cows sent into orbit around the earth have?

They were the herd shot round the world.

I didn't realize internet service was so strong under bridges.
+3
Level 80
Nov 2, 2020
It's actually not. There is almost no broadband service available under most bridges around the world, so sub-bridge dwellers can't easily stream video or play games or do other diverting things on the Internet that most well-adjusted people do. To find amusement they have to resort to posting inflammatory comments to try and make other people as miserable and angry as they are.

Jan 29, 2025
Nope, you circumnavigate the Earth on a sailing vessel, something which people (and almost certainly dogs) had accomplished hundreds of years before Laika. Orbiting, however, requires going into space.

Re: "What ethnic group was the victim of genocide in Rwanda?"

This question would be better worded as "Which ethnic group was the primary target of genocide in Rwanda?"

Not all of the victims of the genocide were Tutsis. A significant number of the victims were Hutu who were considered politically neutral or moderate (and therefore traitors by extremists) or from Rwanda's other ethnic groups, the Twa and Kiga.

Multiple animals had gone into space before Laika, including fruit flies in 1947, a rhesus monkey in 1949, a mouse in 1950, and two dogs in 1951. Laika was the first animal in orbit, but not in space.
