It would also be fair to further specify which FIFA worldcup was meant. A junior event? Women's event? Men's event? Because the way the question is posed right now, the men's worldcup would be the default one to think about and then "nobody" would be a fair answer as well.
The whole point of the question is to make people consider that there is also a women's World Cup. But I guess there are junior World Cups as well. We will allow U20 winners (Ukraine) and U17 winners when the tournament is over.
"FIFA World Cup" is the trademarked name for the men's competition. "FIFA Women's World Cup" is the trademarked name for the women's competition. Do you want to be accurate, or do you want to be a Social Justice Warrior?
I don't see any reason to be political on a quiz-site, rather than simply specify the questions so anyone would have a fair shot at guessing the correct answer.
I can see that is is going to be a thing. I wasn't trying to be "political" at all. Fortunately, I feel pretty good about my neutrality because I get called a right-winger and a left-winger in about equal amounts. In any case, I replaced the question with one that no one will find objectionable.
cp might have a point except that whenever the "FIFA World Cup" is referred to simply as "the World Cup"... there are never any misogynistic dorks complaining about this. So clearly omitting part of the trademarked name for the event is a commonly accepted and understood practice. Using the full name adds clarity, but it's not inaccurate not to. And like QM I get accused of being biased to both the left and right all the time.
It almost seems like cpgatbyu is presenting a false dichotomy in an effort to legitimize his juvenile grievances. But surely nobody on the internet would engage in such pathetic behavior.
I had no idea there was a World Cup this year. I thought it was every 4 years and I had a friend who went to South Africa for it in 2010 so I just assumed 2018, but if there's a women's cup that makes sense.
cpgatbyu is clearly correct: the proper name of the women's competition is the FIFA Women's World Cup. Anything else is intentionally misleading for political purposes. And simply wrong.
I was thinking it was a body part, so I typed "nose" and was alarmed when it was accepted...only to realize that I had just answered the question below it about the Sphinx.
It's in "The Ballad of John and Yoko": "Drove from Paris to the Amsterdam Hilton/Talking in our beds for a week/The newspapers said, 'Say, what you doing in bed?'/I said, 'We're only trying to get us some peace.'..."
Most people (the 63% German speaking) refer to Switzerland's currency as the Frank, not the Franc. We would say the Deutschmark (not the German Marc) so we should accept the name of the currency in the local language.
"Female equivalent of an aviator" makes in sound like it's incorrect to refer to a woman as an aviator, and it is not. "Female-specific form of the word 'aviator'" or "Feminized form of 'aviator'" might be a clearer prompt.
Desperate me decided to guess every single possible combination of letters until I got to IV and then I realized it was just Roman numerals. 18/20, missed Lennon and Yoko, and also quiz which is ironic
Nice quiz as usual.

"What are the two missing letters in this sequence: _ _
X L C D M?"
So I spent 2 minutes thinking "I didn't know there were numerals bigger than M".
