Very fun quiz. Was this partially inspired by my Very Tricky Analogies quiz? Some of the hints are similar. I had many more geographical analogies in mind for that one but I wanted to mix things up. Didn't occur to me to make a whole quiz just on that one subject.
It's because the clue can be taken two ways, España can be interpreted as either the Spanish name of Spain (the Spanish name of Germany is Alemania), or the native name of Spain (the native name of Germany is Deutschland), so the correct answer depends on the interpretation.
Very good quiz. Very original. Needs more alternate spellings for Deutschland. I knew the answer but couldn't get the spelling and had to look up the spelling.
I saw that Michigan was mentioned in two clues, both with cities, and I was confused for a bit until I decided one had to refer to the state and the other to the lake. Nice set of questions that.
Got 'em all this morning with 3:19 left. As Kalbahamut said earlier, Jetpunk does make us smarter. Still enjoyed this one very much, and still had to think about the answers.
Got 'em all today but with 2:57 left - getting slower as I get older, I guess. Still love analogy quizzes - makes up for all the satellite image quizzes I totally fail.
Lol, I thought when they said Chicago to Michigan it meant Michigan State, so I drove myself crazy trying to think of another state fitting with Cleveland for that analogy.
The location of Hainan/Tasmania in relation to mainland China/the main part of Australia is also very similar. That's how I got it. Wasn't even thinking about size.
No, Hawaii and Oahu are two different islands. Hawaii can refer to the entire island chain, of course, but that's not what the question is looking for.
Krakatau for krakatoa please, it is an official name for it. Scientific programs and institutions focused on volcanoes generally all use use Krakatau not Kraktoa
(It was actually thé official name, krakatoa is thought to have stemmed a typo in an article about the eruption, and after that its use has beenbecome more frequent and apparently mainstream)
Since Sicily is the biggest island in the Mediterranean, wouldn't ________ to Caribbean be Cuba and not Jamaica? I mean, Jamaica is like the fourth smallest island in the Caribbean, so it would be Cyprus to Mediterranean for example.
But it isn't _______ to Caribbean, it is Jamaica to _______ and 83% knew it. It clearly is an analogy relating to the sea that the islands are situated in rather than anything relating to their relative sizes
(It was actually thé official name, krakatoa is thought to have stemmed a typo in an article about the eruption, and after that its use has beenbecome more frequent and apparently mainstream)
Detroit is the largest city in Michigan
