Easy to me becuase I read those names far more often than I hear them. But I didn't know Honduras' capital, and I don't know if I'll remember that name.
Got all but Tegucigalpa as I've never heard of it before. I'm laughing at the fact that only 41% of people got Ljubljana right (since it's the capital of my home country). But wtf is up with Los Angeles being on the list? That's not hard to spell at all, haha.
I'm still clueless about the struggle for American people to spell Albuquerque. Even with very basic Spanish knowledge, it's not that hard to guess that there is no other way to spell it without messing up the entire pronunciation.
It is... the spanish town is called albuRquerque. It is where albuquerque ( without r) in america takes its name from. (well via a person technically, the duke of Alburquerque, before people comment on that ;) )
No idea when in history the american city lost its r, if it was pretty early on or not.(either way, cant have been much more than 300 years ago ;)
That might be true. And as annoying as it may be for those of us who grew up and excelled within a certain kind of educational context where that was emphasized, in rational terms it isn't actually important for people to be excellent spellers--not anymore at least. We have software for that. It's like bothering to memorize the encyclopedia. If it interests you, fine, but plain facts will always be available to find when you need them. You don't need to store them all in your brain. In any case, you are going to run into a practical limit, so why not apply that effort to something more useful or more rewarding.
what do you mean not really? I very curious how your mind works, cause I honestly cant see how you would think that. It is like saying during an exam I looked at/copied the answers of the guy next to me, kinda cheating but not really..
Both my home state and favorite place (CT and Tucson) are on this quiz and it always annoys me when people spell them wrong, but I guess anyone could say that about the places they live.
On some travel sites, people seem to have a lot of difficulty spelling Farao Islands, Heidelburg, Nurmburg and Assburger... or was that a decease? Anyway...
^ I do! - I have always pronounced it Ar-kan-sas, until I heard an American pronounce it. At first I thought it might have been a Native American tribe I'd never heard of). But then I asked her to spell it for me. Lo and behold: It's "Arkansaw"!
Or maybe Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu, Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg and Tweebuffelsmeteenskootmorsdoodgeskietfontein.
Hah I can read the last one, I am assuming it is afrikaans ( I am dutch) And it says twobuffaloswithoneshottotallydeadshotfountain. Or: two buffalos shot totally dead with one shot-fountain. (geskiet is the verb here and skoot is the noun shot. so not as in the translation, but the other way around)
Morsdood is a tricky one to translate. You have dead, and very/extremely dead, it is used to emphasize. "as dead as can be" sort of does it I guess.
wow, only missed two !! albuquerque and the one I have never heard of, the lowest one :)
tucson was a surprise, easy though, not that many options.
The los angeles is a joke though, who would write it like that?? san francisco ok, I would get people writing fransisco because of the s sound. But I never heard of people misspelling los angeles, and if they would, I would think los angelos
One of the problems with accepting type-ins of incorrect spellings is that until this quiz I didn't realise what the correct spelling of Cincinnati was. Until today I'd used the incorrect spelling shown in this quiz, which is accepted on most quizzes around here.
A lot more americans than people think can nail most of these like me. But honestly americans usually do better at geography then most of the world they just choose stupid people or "paid actors" for those videos.
Here is a tip for you guys to spell "Ljubljana." Because most Eastern European languages have silent j's, I pronounce it "Leeyubleeyana" to remember where the j's are in placement of the y's. Hope this helped
Some of these arent ever hard to spell but the others I can see why. But if you want make it actually possible for people whove never heard of some of these places spell them how a normal person would. Like arkansaw? or kirgistan?

jk lol
I may have spelt that wrong though.

Well.... here goes nothing.
