It's intentionally unclear, but I wouldn't consider Moana to be set in Hawaii- it's much more likely to be the southern Pacific islands. Lilo and Stitch is the quintessential "Hawaiian-set Disney Movie," but obviously that starts with a different letter.
Agreed. Moana is set primarily on the open ocean, and partially on the fictional Polynesian island of Motonui. The fact that there is another Disney animated movie that is actually set in Hawaii makes it even more confusing.
