tension is pressure..hyper is high. So it is literally right there. Hypertension is a medical condition, you can be anxious and not have high bloodplressure, I really dont see how they could be considered synonymous. (ok when people get mad their bloodpressure shortly rises, but you don;t say love is synonymous with sweating or something either, while some people start to sweat when they see their crush)

Only you, dude. Perhaps it's your attitude that's the problem, rather than •all women ever•? Just a little something you might ponder.

Funny reply, but to be fair, he didn't say all women ever, just the girlfriends he's had. Valid point though.

I was recently surprised to learn that a highball is not a specific drink but rather a broad type of drink.

A Highball is any cocktail that uses a non alcoholic mixer. Generally it's made of just one mixer and one spirit. So something like a pina colada isn't but 7 & 7, rum and coke, scotch and soda etc. are.

I have never even heard of it, and I dont see how a mixed drink could end up being called high ball.

IMO High-Horse is more the attitude of the person involved than an actual animal. It's used in occasions e.g. "Don't get on your high-horse " when someone is acting righteous and unduly virtuous.

yes it should. overhead power transmission lines are called "high tension" lines. tension is used as a synonym for voltage.

Why do people think high bloodpressure is character trait/emotianal state? You dont go around claiming heartattack is synomous with fear or anger either do you?

I read ridden as overrun by, like flea ridden/disease ridden etc. And also thought of ridden as get rid of. So what animal has a selfrighteous person got rid of.. Perhaps rephrase it? Like a selfrighteous person should get off this animal.

In the UK, a high-rise is a tall block of flats, usually in a deprived area. Not a skyscraper.
