If the answer was Ricky Ricardo then the hint would have to be Lucy Ricardo or else Lucille McGillicuddy. Lucille Ball was the real-life actress who played Lucy Ricardo and her real-life husband was Desi Arnaz, not Ricky Ricardo the television character.
Fifty years ago Desilu Studios made Star Trek and Mission Impossible. Of course nothing about those things leads you to know the answer, but it's a measure of how Lucy's part in television history reaches the culture of the 21st Century.
In US TV history, perhaps. She wasn't such a cultural icon in other parts of the world, so excuse us for not all knowing a lot about Lucille Ball. *sigh*
@HectorVortac, yeah @Fitheach beat me to it. She may be famous in America, but in Britain she is utterly unknown. Possibly to people of an older generation who remember her shows, she may have name recognition over here, but I’m in my 40’s and I have no idea who she is beyond the basic ‘name rings a bell’.
Also British, also in my 40s, well aware of who Lucille Ball is and remember seeing reruns of I Love Lucy on TV when I was a kid. She's certainly not as big here as in the States but she's far from unknown.
A bit of research tells me that "I Love Lucy" was never released in Germany and not until 1999 in France. Of course it could be different in other countries. If I understand Portuguese Wikipedia correctly, the show was a big hit in Brazil.
There's another Queen Isabella, the wife of Edward II of England, that confused me for a bit here... Maybe clarify that this is Isabella of Castile instead?
Good quiz though
I mean, legend has it that Diego and Frida, eeehhh... tested the loyalty of the whole Mexican Communist Party.
Oscar De La Hoya and Millie Corretjer..
Madonna and Sean Penn
David and Victoria Beckham
Just sayin...
