The land area of Ireland is only 85,000km2, Iceland is a lot bigger than Ireland at 103,000km2. Please correct this. they are not the same size.
+2
Level 60
Dec 21, 2016
Actually, since this quiz gives the area of the country, it should only be about 70,000 square km; 85,000 square km is the size of the entire island (which includes northern Ireland)

Wait a minute, East Timor is not an island because it is bordered with Indonesia in Timor Island
+4
Level 68
Apr 1, 2016
The quiz doesn't require the country to BE a full island by itself, it only needs the country to be entirely ON an island. As the whole of East Timor is on the Timor island (and no part of it is on a continent, as is the case for Malaysia or Denmark, for instance), it qualifies :).

Anyone else confused as to why UK, Ireland, Indonesia, East Timor, etc. are on this quiz? It says countries that are entirely islands, not countries that are not directly connected to a continent. Excellent quiz but there is one technical error given the rules set out by yourself: the UK is not a country entirely located on an island/s, since the British overseas possession of Gibraltar is part of the U.K. And Gibraltar has a land border with Spain. So the UK by that definition is not technically all on an island.

What even is your thought process behind this? Baffling.

Brunei is not “part of Malaysia”. It is a country, not a territory. Some islands can share a border with a territorial region of a country that has its main region on the mainland. Just because this can happen does not mean it is not an island. It is technically surrounded by water, even if it has a border. Because that is also surrounded by water.

Bahrain is connected to the land of Saudi Arabia by a bridge but is still and island so thats why only 40% of people got it I think

Bahrain is only connected to Saudi Arabia from a bridge because it makes it easier for people to get to Bahrain and back. Therefore it is not geographically connected to Saudi Arabia.

Can you try making a ‘regional islands’ quiz, like islands that are part of non-island countries? (e.g. Tasmania, Corsica)
