The Isle of Wight is the largest island in the English Channel.

the question was:

"Largest island in the English Channel

(not counting the Isle of Wight)"

jajaco2017--the Isle of Wight exclusion was added in later.

Nope. If anything, it's the Isle of Weft.

How about changing the clue instead? “Second largest island in the English channel” or “Largest of the Channel Islands [that's the name of Jersey's archipelago which the Isle of Wight isn't part of]” come to mind. It's a much more elegant solution because many sources name the Solent as a part of the Channel.

I know nothing about Alaska or Denmark, so I think 18/20 is fair.

It's a fair mistake, given that Jupiter comes shortly before it!

Pokémon and Harry Potter questions are the death knell for my prospects of a perfect score. And may it always be so.

Java is a tea, not a coffee.

I thought it was a programming language. :) Americans have their "cup of java" in the morning. We have a Java Dave's coffeeshop in our town. I think it originally referred to a specific coffee from the island of Java, but now in the US it is just slang for any coffee.

I have never heard of tea being referred to as Java. In the US, Java, apart from being a programming language as ander217 stated, refers to coffee. At least it always has in my experience.

The logo for Java, the programming language, is also a coffee cup

"Jodphur" seems to be at least an acceptable, and maybe more standard, spelling. (BTW, thanks for another nice quiz.)

Wikipedia doesn't mention that spelling, so I'm not sure if it is accurate, but it will work now.

p.s. When in doubt just spell it without the H. We almost never require extraneous H's.

I knew all the questions except the ones about the 'good ol USA.' I don't know why I bother when in most geography related quizzes a disproportionate amount of questions are devoted to [outside of the US] insignificant geographical locations.
