OK, or you could use your own judgment. From my own limited experience it's clear that actress is already fairly outdated.
If you're happier using actor for men and actress for women that's fine, it's still absolutely common usage, I doubt it's really because you're monitoring the Academy and taking your cue from them though...
Why, though? What control does "the Academy" have on your own language usage? Cause regardless of what they think, "actor" is still used for females just as much if not more than "actress" in the general speech of most people. Either one is valid.
Was mostly trolling when I posted that, but just for fun, I decided to look it up. Turns out that if you omit the featured Futurama quizzes he's a part of, Nixon drops down two whole ranks regarding US presidents. Maybe I was on to something. XD
Missed all the athletes. As a Brit I don't do any of the quizzes about North American sports. I have a very basic knowledge of them but a heck of a lot less than most of the (North American) takers on here so on those few quizzes that I occasionally take, I invariably get zero points. Thus, I was trying to think of Athletes from global sports rather than American sports.
Must have managed to spell the oldest world leader wrong as well.
I also did well except 1/5 on living musicians. Homer Simpson had it right when he said "music quality peaked in 1974, and has been on a downhill since".
Guess I'll be the first to ask; is there a reason Jesus is omitted? I obviously can't check the numbers myself (without expending a ludicrous amount of time), but I'd be surprised if there were less than 30 total instances out of all the featured quizzes.
there are already plenty of those. This quiz is about the most commonly guessed answers on quizzes about people. The results are what they are. Suck it up.
If he had more Twitter followers, had been elected to public office, had more #1 singles, won on Oscar, and/or played in more World Cups he might have had a chance.
God forbid civilized folks enjoy themselves. We must all suffer the crushing weight of existential nihilism every waking moment, and ideally even while we sleep. For if a man has fun, is he truly even alive?
Who are Kevin Durant and Lebron James? I mean I’ve heard of James, but couldn’t tell you what he looks like. Tall probably. US sports are clearly massive - just mainly inside the US. In England netball and rounders are girl’s sports!
Although US sports aren't exactly popular in England, basketball's following has been growing rapidly in Southeast Asia and Africa over the past decade. Many people that would not have known about the NBA before; now follow the NBA and know some of the bigger names.
Her meat dress alone had to be good for 5-or-6 appearances as an answer. Do something notorious & outrageous and you become the answer to a lot of trivia questions.
This is more about English-language quiz-writers than users of the website, though, and I get the impression that those quizzes are featured which are America-friendly - in the sense of being suitable for an American audience. So it's no surprise most of these people are American.
Made a typo in the least guessed musician which accidentally got the least guessed basketball player! Whom I'm not familiar with, so a totally unexpected point 😀).
Which begs the question of how badly you spelled the least guessed musician to get credited for the least guessed basketball player since their names aren't remotely similar.
I'm not sure being US President is reason enough to be in the category of World Leader. Twentieth century presidents certainly, but until the 20th century the US was not the global power it is now, and the presidents didn't have the clout they have done since the Second World War.
What a depressing list of (mainly) American nobodies. Basketball and baseball?! 99% of the planet does not give a monkeys about either 'sport'. These people are not famous.
Baseball is popular in the Caribbean countries and Japan/ROK. Basketball is also in many countries like China, Philippines, Lithuania, etc. Maybe not as widespread as other sports, but that "99%" is a gross exaggeration, especially since the U.S. alone is definitely more than 1% of the world, and DEFINITELY more than 1% of this website, which is what this quiz is measuring. But feel free to make some featured quizzes so that your favorite footballer makes this list instead of whining about it in the comment section.
I just learned today that Bob Dylan is still alive. All the photos ive ever seen of him were in black and white and showed him young, so I assumed he died in his 30s or something
Maybe the actor clue should read actress instead?
I agree, it's pretty clear that 'actress' is increasingly dated.
If you're happier using actor for men and actress for women that's fine, it's still absolutely common usage, I doubt it's really because you're monitoring the Academy and taking your cue from them though...
