Spoiler alert? LOL, JK. I'll admit, I had the same thought, but the credited role for Norton is (I believe) Narrator - he's never given a name. The only character identified in the movie or the credits as Durden is the one listed above. He's never Durden when he's Norton.
that's not true. Think when Norton was at the bar and the bartender with the neck brace was talking to him. Norton says, "who am I?" The bartender says, "you're the man who gave me this. You're Tyler Durden." It's the only time he is actually identified by name at all, apart from Cornelius or Rupert or other made up names.
There are also scenes in flashback when Norton is playing the Durden personality, reenacting the same scenes previously played by Pitt.
Also, anyone who enjoyed this quiz, I've got a bunch about popular roles and actors in my own quizzes... including a fun series about roles played by more than one actor. Check it out.
But... but.. but... I actually made a perfectly valid point. Norton *does* play Tyler Durden in the film, regardless of what it says on iMDB. Rest easy, Erik.
I suppose you're technically correct, but really Tyler Durden is his imaginary friend who looks like Brad Pitt. Norton's character isn't actually called Tyler Durden.
Right. Helena Bonham Carter calls him Tyler Durden, too. Lots and lots of characters in the film interact with Norton as if he is Durden (because he is). Pitt doesn't play Durden. Pitt plays Norton's characters' imaginary or psychological projection of his idealized self, whom he sees as Tyler Durden.
Couldn't remember Daniel Craig's last name for the life of me. I think Radcliffe threw me off on the name Daniel or something. Oh well. That's the only one I missed.
I got 7 correct and I've seen 5 of these movies - From Russia with Love / The Godfather 1&2, Rambo, The Big Lebowski. and I did not receive one point :o(
The last quiz I just did was the James Bond movies quiz. Then I hit random and came here. At first I thought it brought me to the same quiz because they both use the same picture of Roger Moore!
Whenever I watch a Sean Connery movie I always believe that his character is an alias he uses to hide his real identity, Royal Naval Service Commander James Bond, AKA 007. Sean Connery never stopped playing James Bond, he just went deep undercover.
I think that might have even been intended as the backstory for his role in The Rock, and possibly a couple other films he's been in. But... then it doesn't make much sense for Dragonheart or First Knight.
He plays young Vito in the second film. Won an Oscar for it. Fun trivia fact: there are three fictional characters for whom two different actors have won Oscars: Vito Corleone (De Niro and Brando), the Joker (Joaquin Phoenix and Heath Ledger), and Anita from West Side Story (Rita Moreno and Adriana DeBose).
Lol now I'm seeing this comment 4 years later with all my film knowledge I've developed since then and I'm cringing at myself. That's a very cool fact, what's interesting is both Vito and Joker had one who won best actor, and the other for supporting actor.
