Artists shouldn't be listed by their first name. You don't look up Cindi Lauper by C, you find her under L.

That approach leads to problems. For example, where does Beyonce go?

B?

Well, I guess that actually does explain it.

No it doesn't explain it at all. It could go under K for Knowles. Then you get people like Post Malone. Does it go under P or M. Is Post Malone even a name?

Post is actually his last name. Going by the artists stage name is the best apporach imo: Beyoncé without her last name so it belongs under B, Cyndi Lauper in full, not just Cyndi or just Lauper so it belongs under C.

Just go into a music shop and look up how artists are sorted there.

Yeah, I run a music shop and it's almost all alphabetical by last names. There's a few exceptions, but far too few to change the entire way names are listed everywhere. Just such a stupid way of doing it.

Great quiz, I think it's fine to use first or last names or band names. I hate Coldplay, though.

Other possible future additions/answers for a Pt. 2: Chubby Checker, Cardi B, The Chainsmokers, Cake, Charli XCX, Counting Crows, and maybe Cypress Hill and Calvin Harris

I know he wasn't as big in the US, but Cliff Richard would be a solid addition here.

Definitely need Chicago. There was no bigger band between the Woodstock and disco era. Guess the same person who compiled the list also is on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame selection committee.

In trying to put Commodores, I put Communards instead and wondered why that didn't work. But yeah, those, the Cranberries and Cliff Richard are all good shouts that could be added.

Maybe a teensy bit of grace spelling Christina’s last name? I went through several variations (I was sure there was a double letter pairing in there!) but had to resort to looking up the spelling.
