I thought for sure that The Monkees were very much a British band until I looked it up and found that only Davy Jones was from the UK. Everyone else is American. Good thing I paid more attention to the songs than the flags, otherwise I would’ve been really thrown off.
They were not ostracized just over lip syncing, which was pretty common. It’s because they never performed any of the music and the real musicians were two old guys behind the scenes (actually, that’s the same for the Monkees, who didn’t play their own instruments—they got away with it, though). Ashlee Simpson did get ostracized pretty good for her SNL lip syncing flub, though.
The most outrageous example of that is the music video for Funky Town by Lipps Inc. That blonde white woman is of course not the singer. It was a black woman who I don’t think was even in the video.
Drew a complete blank on Mariah Carey--I could see her singing that damn Christmas song, too but my brain blocked her name. Last 2 seconds it came to me and now I've got that song stuck on autoreplay in my head.
Morgan Wallen on a featured quiz is so awesome - but the dates are off his first EP was from 2015 and if you wanted to stretch the meaning of active he was on The Voice all the way back in 2013.
American country singer, arguably the most popular one in the country at the moment. Personally, I think he's pretty bland and uninteresting but that's kind of how I feel about country music in general, so...
much like calling pole dancing a sport
Enter Sandman is not even in their top 10.
It's their best-known song, though.
Kickstart My Heart & Dr Feelgood are 80's hairband staples/classics.
We've done a disservice to society if people don't know who the Crew are.
