Very nice quiz. Good diversity although could use some more recent names. Surprised to see Willie Nelson bringing up the rear, as I've at least heard that nickname, unlike Macca.
I never heard of Willie Nelson called that, but I don't listen to country music on the radio, just hear something I like, or a person and buy it. His hair's not very red tho--it's been grey for a century.
I'm guessing if you didn't grow up hearing him on the radio, you wouldn't have known that. It's anecdotal, but my parents were big country fans, and there was lots of that music in our house, but I've never heard that nickname for Willie Nelson.
Haha. I got Newton just because I tried guessing Newton-John for Queen of Disco. Should've gotten James Brown too, but there were some I never heard of. Velvet Fog? Red-Headed Stranger? Nope, no bells, not even the real name.
It was always Jim Morrison. Watch an old concert video from youtube. He crawled around the dark stage, on the ground, writhing, he really wanted that name! ;)
What a pleasant surprise to see Mel Torme show up on a JetPunk quiz! Smoothest voice you've ever heard, hence his nickname. Most people may not recognize the name, but they'd likely recognize the lyrics, "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Jack Frost nipping at your nose..." Probably his most famous composition, though there were many more.
Huh. Never knew that Miles Davis was also the Prince of Darkness. Certainly doesn't seem to have much in common with the other answer. Also, "Walrus of Love" is my new favorite musician nickname.
