Cool piece of baseball trivia: on June 21, 1998, Cincinnati Reds manager Jack McKeon fielded a starting outfield of Dmitri Young in left, Mike Frank in center and Chris Stynes in right for a starting outfield of Young, Frank and Stynes.
Edit: Tim Raines and Goose Gossage, too.
Bucky Harris (1924 Senators, 1947 Yankees) and Bill McKechnie (1925 Pirates, 1940 Reds) each won the WS with two different teams.
-Bruce Bochy now is a manager with a WS win for two teams
-Wes Ferrell won 22 games and hit 9 HR in 1931
Also, how have I never heard of Wes Ferrell? He had 9 home runs in just 128 plate appearances that season!
He had a career .446 slugging percentage while being a top pitcher through most of his career as well. Unfortunately, he fell off after age 29. It looks like years of leading the league in innings pitched took it's toll.
Nevertheless, he earned over 60 WAR. What a Chad.
- Acuna had the first 40-70 season and is hence a member of the 40-40 club
- Ohtani counts for a pitcher winning MVP
- The Rangers are World Series champions! Remove them from the list!
- Some others I might have forgot
