I liked several of these movies. The Matrix, obviously, is a classic. But I do honestly think that Bill & Ted was probably his best work, and Bogus Journey might be my favorite movie starring him. He was born to play Ted Theodore Logan. and it's been hard to take him seriously in any other roles since then.
I don't care what people say about him, he's one of my favorite actors. He may not be the best actor but he's always entertaining. You never hear anything about him being a jerk. Only two of these I hadn't seen and I liked all of the ones I did see.
He's better than not a jerk. He is remarkable. He gives away most of his earnings to charity and research now, and is famously decent to people he encounters. He assigned his back-end salary (total $75 million) from the Matrix sequels to the FX team (about 60 people, so you do the math) in appreciation of their technical achievement and contributions to the movies. Basically, he seems the way we all imagine we'd be if we were rich: he seems to understand that once you get paid $20 million for one movie, you don't need another dime, and can donate everything you earn afterward. It's refreshing. And it's nice to see the stories emerge bit by bit from real people and not some Hollywood PR campaign. Everyone should read up on him a little, and then you'll probably like him a lot more than someone like Russell Crowe, who is a much better actor, and much worse person.
