Surprised so few get leopard seal. They're pretty epic creatures. They're one of the most powerful predators in the Antarctic, only orcas prey on them. Females can grow to 3.5 meters and weigh up to 600 kilograms, which makes them pretty terrifying beasts.
To begin with dolphins are *not* friendly. They are smart, but most of there "friendliness" is because they are very social creatures, and also look a bit like they are smiling to be fair. However they are almost sadistic in their treatment of other creatures; it's a well known fact that dolphins bully pufferfish to get high, and it doesn't take a huge amount of searching to find them doing something else weird.
On the other hand, ever since Jaws sharks have been getting an unfair rep. Sharks do kill people, and they are definitely not 'friendly', but whilst dolphins are more sadistic, sharks are just predators. Shark-based human fatalities are rare and in fact whilst the average is ~60 deaths per year, humans kill 100,000,000 sharks per year.
TL;DR, sharks are not friendly, but neither are dolphins; the latter just appear so because we try to relate to them as social creatures.
@RedactedChicken The fact that you explained virtually EVERYTHING about the behaviour, I do admit that I'm surprised you leaving out the crucial fact that Dolphins are mammals while sharks are cartilaginous fish... The two families located WAAAAAYYYY far from one another within the Animal kingdom.
Not easy because in my mother tongue pinnipeds and manatees are just called "sea (insert land mammal)", i.e. sea elephant, sea lion, sea bear, sea dog, sea cow. P.s. the walruses are so cute.

I am aware that everybody knows this.
