Millard Fillmore and Chester A. Arthur are the only presidents I consistently forget every time I do a quiz. Even if I force myself to remember them I can never do it quickly to speedrun. Such forgettable people.
I wish they hadn't made the change to the badge system. I lost half of my badges at once, and I had worked so hard especially on this quiz to get the USA badge.
I got 41 out of 45 91% this quiz is hard i have been practicing every since i stated going on this website its really hard to complete when you'er not an American person
After nearly a year i finally named all the 45 presidents of the US im not American which makes it harder becuase ur not taught this at school im South African so we are only taught South African presidents like Nelson Mandela and our ucrrent president Cyril Ramaphosa and soon on the 28th ot the 29th of May are elections this year 2024.
Yeah, it was difficult as an American, I can't imagine how hard it is for people from other countries who probably only know Washington, Lincoln, JFK, Trump
The years in this quiz are done just like the Oscars - the elections being held in the previous year to the actual handover. Makes it harder to remember.
I’m sure Biden won the 2020 election, but he only becomes president the next year.
I guess this is just standard for Jetpunk quizzes?
That the dates that are in all lists. Adopting the convention to use election date, in addition to an inaccurate description of the term, would pose a serious problem: not all presidents were elected. Plus it would create the impression that Harrison was president for 1 year, when he famously wasn't.
And you could even end up, theoretically, in the case where a president was president after his successor. Let say, for example, that Buchanan dies in office on January 2nd, 1861 (I choose this one, because I know very few of you, divided Americans, would feel offended by this example :D). So Breckinridge becomes president. From 1861 to 1861 (March 4th, since inauguration was in March back then). And then Lincoln takes over on March 4th 1861. Now, if you use election date, that is 1860 to 1865 for Lincoln, what date would you use for Breckinridge. He wasn't elected, so you have to fall back on his sworn in. But then the list have "1861-1861" followed by "1860-1865". Strange.
I am screenshotting this comment and seeing how accurate it is over the next 13 years. I actually don't think I'd mind this line of succession. I despise Trump and Vance, but, hey, if they only get eight years, with Trump going partway through, then it might be bearable. And Pete Buttigieg is freakin' awesome! Though, I hope he'd get to serve for eight years and not just four.
I see that from outside (I am not American). But if Trump does his entire term, I have hard time imagining Vance getting the nomination and elected (vice-presidents don't achieve that often, unless their president dies or resign. And among the 4 who did, there is Jefferson, who was the opponent of Adams, back when the vice-president was looser).
Vance doesn't seem a presumptive front-runner for after-Trump (see what happened with Pence. And even if Trump and Vance remain in good terms, there are some heavier weight in the Trumpian camp; plus he still needs to win if he is the nominee, and again, most previous cases failed than succeeded).
His main chance to become president is indeed if Trump doesn't finish his term (and if so, he has indeed a very good chance to be reelected without serious challenge in his own party, in 2028).
(I am just trying to be objective, not to express any political opinion on a country that isn't mine)
Trump probably won’t die in office but I wouldn’t rule it out as a possibility. I don’t know if Vance is popular enough with the non-MAGA crowd to get elected in four years; if the economy goes south real fast he definitely won’t get elected. I wouldn’t mind having Pete be President even if I have to wait a while.
A little late to this particular party, but can someone explain to me why Buttigieg is qualified to be President? I don't mean this to be a criticism of him personally. I'm just pointing out that he has no experience beyond being a mayor of a small city and Transportation Secretary with an unremarkable tenure. We have 340 million people in this country; surely there are a few dozen with more executive experience (given that he has none) and accomplishments. After (what will be) 12 years of chaos and bitter partisanship with Trump and Biden, what this country needs is an experienced. moderate statesman(woman), not the latest trendy flavor-of-the-month.
Yeah. If you think about it, the way we choose leaders is really weird. Many leaders have almost no relevant experience. I don't think Obama ever had a real job before becoming a politician. And obviously Trump's experience building luxury hotels is not in any way relevant. Worse, many politicians are shockingly ignorant about basic facts and numeracy. The cope is that they can choose highly competent advisors to run the show. And often, they do.
Perhaps a better system would be based on promotions. To be a governor, you must first be a mayor. And to be President you must first be a governor.
The Romans had something like that with their "cursus honorum".
But that's clearly not the system we have. And democracy has worked better than anything that's come before. Really, it just comes down to the voters making good or poor choices. My fear is that the "vote for me and get free stuff" strategy is going to dominate in the future even more than it does today.
Like this, https://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/72360/us-presidents-in-chronological-order
But maybe this quiz is meant to be easier, since it's a badge quiz.
I enjoy taking it to practice, along with the chronological, and the picture quizzes.
When Johnson fills in, I get a ton of presidents for free (L J G H G A C H C M)

First ever try, working towards the USA badge. Thought I’d get more, but it was my first time ever doing this

47. Donald Trump(2025-2028) dies in office
48. JD Vance(2028-2033)
49. Pete Buttigieg(2033-2037)

Wait...there could be a way to remember...
