That's quite a few name changes in the past few months, isn't it? First Swaziland and Macedonia change their names a little, then Burundi relocates its capital, then this happens.
However, I'd like to suggest something for the interesting facts category. The former name the city had since 1998, Astana, literally means "capital city" in Kazakh.
i bet most people on jetpunk have done it before
I decided from now on I will remember it by thinking of "dumb lure" which is nearly what the first part is backwards, if if wasnt for the "silent b" in dumb.
But... could you or someone possibly do a quiz that has...1. an empty map at the start and 2. you need both country and capital together to make the country show...???
I love jetpunk!
But why is São Tomé & Principe on Africa's column?
Ah san marino is a better candidate :)
I thought it was Bujumbura.
I did not search this up, I just memorized it by memory
Get it right, you baked beans.
(this is satire in case it isn't already obvious)
Though the downside with that is... the ones that never get mentioned in any quizzes haha. I think most of the ones I didnt get fall in that category, I think there are atleast 10 more that I missed that I should ve gotten or atleast look familiar enough. I think about 30 you hardly see on any quiz.
anyways, i also though more people knew ngerulmud...
But Colombo doesn't work here.
If you suggested Pòtoprens I'd agree.
When I search for "World Capitals - Hard Version" I got no result.
ouaga => Ouagadougou
tallin => Talinn
vientian => Vientiane
bandar => Bandar Seri Begawan
sri jayawardenepura => Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte
sana => Sana'a
kingston => Kingstown
Some of these are annoying because the answer is accepted but there's still more to type, which leaves the correct letters in the next answer. A couple of the shortenings I don't like because I'm drilling myself to keep my knowledge current and I actually want to know the full name of the capitals of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Sri Lanka and Brunei.
But not everyone uses the quiz this way, and lots of people are frustrated with knowing roughly "Ouagadougou" but not how to spell it.
What I'd love is a feature where I can choose (for a given quiz, a given take, or maybe for my user) whether to accept loose spellings and (especially) shortenings or whether to keep it strict. The accepting of close misspellings doesn't bother me, but the truncation does.
Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte is its legislative capital, and Colombo is its largest city and financial centre.That's Sri Lankas constitution, even though Kotte is in Colombos urban area, those are two different cities still. Their constitution defines Kotte as the capital.
South Africa have officialy divided their 3 branches of power in three different cities that aren't even near onw another. Two totally different situations.

That's it, I'm done.
Surprised myself by getting 157 on my first attempt.
What is a pain in the ass when you are typing without looking is when you type the correct spelling for:
...for example, and the final letter (for whatever reason) is not required and ruins your next answer because there's a dangling final letter at the start of your lovely new capital.
I suppose for those guys who have completed it multiple times and are going for time improvements, this fact can be borne in mind (Jackinthebox above, for example) but for me, it is painful.
Also I don't recall typing the name of the capital of St Vincent because the capital of Jamaica is acceptable because it's close enough. BUT NO ! It isn't.
(Sorry - I see my frustration is aired by partdavid above)
Finished with 7 minutes left on my most recent go!
Even though so many capitals have difficult spelling, for some reason the last one I was able to remember was "Maseru" hahaha
Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine.
Only forgot capital of equatorial guinea
Im so happy
The capital of poland-warsaw is called warsaw because it saw a lot of wars.
Get it like the n*zi germany and ussr stuff
(I have learnt all the 196 capitals including the other 2 of Palestine rammalah or east Jerusalem and 2027 new country of Bougainville,buka)
Love this quiz.
