As a Brit I only knew some of these, so there was a fair amount of guesswork and lateral thinking involved, and I didn't score amazingly, but still enjoyed it. I feel like I learnt some things - not least that Minnesota is know as 'The Land of 10,000 Lakes', which I am sure is the kind of fact that will come up in some future quizz, either on this site or somewhere else.
I'm American and I missed ten. I'm not into b-ball and know only what I've learned from previous quizzes on this site. All Americans are not experts on every sport played in the US.
it's a reference to politics. people who prefer peace are "doves." people who think we need war are "hawks." it's really, really old terminology. pretty ubiquitous, if you follow politics at all.
For a lot of these I thought of a team name and then went looking for a clue that might match it. Took me forever to come up with Cavaliers because I'm so used to abbreviating them as Cavs that I momentarily forgot what it actually stood for.

Attending a bull fight was one of the more unsettling experiences of my life...but still. Come on. It's a clue in a quiz, and all it says is "Ole." It's really not worth getting upset over.
I agree, went to a bullfight in Valencia (Spain) and it was disgusting. €50 to get in, €8 for a can of coke and we were sat so far at the back we couldn’t even see the cows getting stabbed. Wouldn’t recommend it…
Maybe it’s an American thing, but I don’t think chivalrous knights is particularly precise for cavaliers. Cavaliers were the long-haired monarchist opponents of the parliamentarian Roundheads during the English civil war.
The root word is also in Caballero and Chevalier (Spanish and French) meaning “horseman” - which evolved into the concept of the knight, but the word cavalier itself now has a different meaning.
Hey, do you think you could maybe make a quiz that includes all of these "____ Names by Clue" for the big 4 sports leagues? not separated by sport or anything just throw them all together randomly, I think that would be really fun!
Fun quiz otherwise.
I'd like another 3 minutes or so. I don't watch NBA, so it was fun for me to guess & try to recall what I've heard through diffusion.
