That's the record score for an answer I had no idea about: Talk to the Hand got 98%. So tell me, why would anyone want to talk to the hand? Theirs? Anyone's?
This is said when someone doesn't want to listen to what you have to say. They turn their head away, aggressively throw their hand up in your face, and say in a sassy tone of voice, "talk to the hand!"
There was a restaurant in the show that served amazing soup but the guy who served it was moody and temperamental and known as the "Soup Nazi." If someone did something that upset him he would shout "no soup for you!" and that person was henceforth banned from the restaurant.
Interesting to know! I think it's still fair game for a 1990's slang quiz though, because it was a Bart Simpson catchphrase around that time. Kind of like how Cowabunga was a thing before the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but they really popularized it for mainstream culture.
I guessed "that's gotta hurt", heard it all the time in my head but still I was sitting for like five minutes trying to find the right fighting game and crossing any guesses (Street Fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat) just to remember another quote "Ooh, did that hurt?" And them BAM! GTA 2. And it's not a fighting game lol.
I guess it just depends on where (and who) you were in the '90s, because I've heard - and used - every single one of these phrases, and they all (regardless of previous usage) feel VERY '90s to me!
I was aged 12 to 22 during the 90s so I thought this would be easy. But I got... 7! And there were no facepalm moments when I saw the other 8 answers - I'd literally never heard of them. I guess many of these never particularly made it to the UK, especially if you weren't really into US TV shows...
Also who are the Benjamins that it's all about? The 90's are hazy for me...
