Hehe, it's funny that as Canadians we don't even think that way - maybe because Ottawa is South of most other things in Canada. For comparison, both Portland and Milan are farther North.
Yep. Many other things than latitude, like ocean currents, have an influence on temperatures. Where I come from (66° 32' N) it's not unusual to have temperature as low as -40° C (-40 °F) in the winter time, but then in the summer time it rises to +30° C (86° F).
Also changes during the same day might be significant. Warm winds can cause 30 °C increase in a few hours. Record from 2.1.1989 is 36,5°C change from -35,3°C to +1,2°C during that same day.
I knew the four countries I needed (Estonia, Khazakstan, Latvia, and Lithuania), but I didn't know their capital cities. Time to do some memorization! :)
I think ing's point is that Nur-Sultan is not the real name of the capital, which was renamed from Astana to Nur-Sultan in honor of its egomaniacal president. Either way, the official name of the city now is Nur-Sultan.
I'm always surprised when I actually look at a world map, instead of just relying on my feeble memory, and see how far north much of Europe is compared with North America and Asia. For example, reading about some of the winter hardships endured by soldiers during the Korean War, it amazes me when I see on the map that Pyongyang and Seoul are actually at about the same latitude as southern Italy. Obviously, as others have noted, latitude isn't everything.
It's a regional capital within the nation state that is the UK. It's recognised as a sovereign capital by precisely no one. Please, don't let your ideology run counter to simple reality.

Got an idea of exactly the same quiz, but here it was already;)) Good that I checked first.
