I read somewhere that the "72 virgins" thing was actually a mistranslation, and that the original text actually specified 72 grapes (and the archaic term for "grapes" is similar to the modern Arabic word for "virgins" or something along those lines). Not sure whether this is true but it makes for an interesting piece of trivia.

Not actually a catch 22, it's a dilemma. A catch 22 is more of a cycle or paradox that you can't break free from, e.g. you want to get a job for experience but you are turned down because you need experience to get job.
