There always seem to be one question in every single one of those long quiz that my eyes apparently skip over and that I realize I never even read only once the answer are posted. This time it was the Puerto Rico one. It's really frustrating because I usually know the answer.

I'm surprised anyone gets Sir Walter Raleigh from that description! In the UK he's most famous for importing the first tobacco. I didn't even remember he'd been executed - he packed a lot into his life before that!

In the US, he's most famous for the first English attempt to colonize North America - the failed Roanoke Colony. I don't remember ever being taught anything about him that happened after c.1585.

Personally I think that a question for Oct. 28 (1940) should be about the Greeks denying the Italians asylum in Greece, thus drastically changing the outcome of WW2 in the allies favour.

October 14, William the Conqueror was not a "conqueror" before the Battle of Hastings, he was the "Bastard". And October 27, grammatical mistake "William Penn FINDS this American city". Nice quiz overall, though!

"Founds" is correct in this context. When someone establishes or starts something (like a city or a company), it is said that that person founded it. It comes from the same source as the word foundation, meaning the basis of something. "Finds" implies that the city already existed and that Penn just managed to locate it. See the second verb definition here.

Regarding the Battle of Hastings, the question isn't about William before the battle. One could say that at the moment he won the battle (as it is phrased in the question), he became The Conqueror.

Why didn't you put the actual retreat to France in 1813 after the Battle of Nations, also on 19th of October... in 1812 that same date Napoleons army only fell back to Germany, not France.

Not sure you can say that Marie Antoinette was a French queen. She was a queen of France, but an Austrian one. I don't think they bothered with naturalisation in those days. The current queen of Denmark by contrast is Australian and British by birth but became a Danish citizen on marriage, so is a Danish queen.
