One certainly does not need to be homophobic to dislike the oeuvre of *NSYNC. Alternatively, bluesdjben could, for all we know, be a) the world's biggest boy band fan, but with tastes rather running towards the Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, and Color Me Badd; b) gay himself; c) not one to readily call to mind the name of marine life that has such abused nomenclature that it refers to species of fish ranging all the hell over its entire order (I mean Jesus, it's not like we ran out of things to call fish); or d) any combination of a, b, and c. That being said, I'm going to go with my gut here and wildly speculate that he's just, um, not a fan. I'm as queer as a three-dollar bill (and clearly have some emotional issues surrounding binomials), and I'm afraid I'm not a fan either. (Sorry Rachel24601.)

Bass was reaching a bit. Don't you think Bass would be geared more towards the music industry as opposed to a freshwater aquatic?
Level 39

Except that the two versions of "bass" are pronounced differently and his last name is pronounced the same way as the fish.

If he sang the bass part, he'd be Bass the bass.

Nope. My second jazz album was "Diz 'n' Bird."

You sound like you know his full nickname was "Yardbird," which was mine also in the Army.
