Yup. Looks like a president of the US. An old one. So.. any of them start with a D? Took me a bit too long really.

The dollar answer confused me; I thought that you had to say who was on it, not what it actually was.

It is a pretty bad clue. Unless you're from the US, it is very difficult to immediately know that he is on the $1 USD bill. Maybe switch it out with a section of the bill that actually has a 1 on it?

Seconded. That was my first thought and it fits the picture perfectly too. I did get dune when it didn't work though.

it fits, not perfectly though, dune fits perfectly. But I agree, it could be an accepted answer, it is not wrong

The hill is very prominent in the picture, so "dune" is clearly a better answer, but I guess "desert" could also work.

Normally I would think you're being overly pedantic with a comment like but if the quizmaker includes other foreign words like "duomo" as an answer then other foreign words should be fair game too.

Any time anyone comes on here complaining that a place name should be accepted in its native language they are shot down as this is an English language quiz and if they can read 100s of other words to comprehend the quiz it is beneficial to learn an English equivalent relevant to their country.

....so why are we expected to use a foreign answer that means simply cathedral? They're called that all over Italy, not just that one.

The last one (Duomo) took me by surprise. Anyone who has been to Macau (near Hong Kong) has likely seen a very similar facade which is what I thought this one was---that one is the ruins of St. Paul's, from the 17th century, but very similar look. Raspberries.
