I can't believe I didn't remember the one from 2020. It was like the only movie released last year and for a whole month I saw people criticizing its director at my timeline.

I know I'm nitpicking, but if you aknowledge both versions of Dune, you should also give a nod to 2012's Total Recall

No. That movie (much like the fabled 4th entry in the Indiana Jones franchise) does not exist.

Don't forget the third Godfather. That doesn't exist either.

Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Come on.

and don't forget every iteration after the original Matrix, but especially the latest one without Laurence Fishburne.

What? I loved Kingdom of the Crystal Skull! It made the world seem so much bigger than just the planes and treasure. You may dislike the Dial of Destiny though, which I would understand.

is it just me who only saw "lives the same day repeatedly" and thought Groundhog Day

I was typing it in like "I don't remember this movie having aliens or Tom Cruise but what do I know?" Apparently enough because that wasn't the movie

Groundhog Day isn't just a movie - it's a genre. See also "Happy Death Day", "Palm Springs", "Before I Fall", "Source Code"...

Bill Murray did not fight aliens in Groundhog Day

They just didn't show what he did on every single one of his repeated days. Maybe he did fight aliens.

Level 34

They skipped a lot of stuff in Edge of Tommorow. Maybe Tom cruise fought Bill Murray. It took him 4 deaths just to recover enough to fight the aliens.

Not going to lie: when I first saw the hint about a 1997 film about vaguely fascist humans fighting an interplanetary war against bugs, my mind went to Men in Black first.

Are you saying that the USA is vaguely fascist? Are you asking for the vengeance of Bahamut for such blasphemy???
+1
Level 92

To be fair, there's nothing at all vague about the level of fascism in Starship Troopers. The film is more about fascism than space marines.

I know Edge of Tomorrow as Live Die Repeat

Should definitely be accepted, the original title was so bad that they renamed it to Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow for home releases.

The Prestige, which I consider to be Nolan's best, could even be argued as Sci-Fi too.

"Vaguely fascist humans..." and I already knew which movie :-)

The word "vaguely" gave me pause there lol. The movie pulls no punches in that regard

This is a bit of a nitpick and it's been a while since I read Dune, but isn't spice just used by guild navigators to navigate through fold space? I don't think the spice itself is causing space to fold, it just helps them navigate

Leo's character "Dom" in Inception didn't develop the technology to go inside dreams, his job was to go inside the dreams.

It would also be weird if the plot of the movie was that Leonardo DiCaprio was the one doing all that stuff and not his character
